OK. Hopefully, you won't need the procedure = no pain! I've never had it done so I don't know what kind of after pain there is. Maybe KaraBulut can advise or other EC members who have had it done other than when they were babies.

I've been Circumsized at the age of 12ish (I think). I wasn't even on general anesthetic (when they put you to sleep), I was just on local anesthetic. So I was wide awake when it was happening o_o

There is that slight jolt every once in a while, but that was because I was only on local anesthesia anyway. Basically, after the procedure, there will be no pain at all. Well, the area will be a bit sensitive since its uhm.. inflammed or something, but its usually wrapped in bandages and stuff. Worst thing that can happen to you is walk and pee funny for a week.

Hey, I did it, and I'm still alive :icon_wink

nah, its normal here to be circumsized... kind of a right of passage for most boys :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

but yeah, its kind awkward to be in the OR, lying down on the table and see like a group of doctors and nurses doing all sorts of stuff to it

In the US, most circumcisions are done under general anesthesia so the patient is not awake. The procedure is quick- you're usually done less than an hour from the time you go into the OR.

The pain varies but most of the patients that I've worked with complained that the first 48 hours were painful (as with any surgery) and then the pain only occurred after that when they got an erection (because the stitches in the area were stretched) or when they cleaned the area in the shower. One patient commented that he didn't realize how often he got an erection until after his surgery. The pain with erection lasts just a couple of weeks after the surgery.

The post-op instructions usually discourage masturbation or full-on "topping" for 4-6 weeks afterward but I have heard guys say that they masturbated sooner than that to let off a little tension.

In Muslim countries where boys are circumcized around the time that they make their first prayers (age 8-12 depending on the country), the boys are only given a local and a sometimes a mild sedative and they are usually awake.

So for not having that pain, a small seizure should work perfectly. They won't cut the foreskin nor youll have pain, but it will be loosen up a little.

Well, I didn't mean to scare you. (*hug*)

Since you only would consider circumcision as your last option, don't give it much thought- cross that bridge when you come to it.

It sounds like what surgeons call a "dilatation" (it's like dy-lay-tion only with an extra syllable dil-luh-tay-tion).

If you're squeamish, you might want to skip the details below.

If you are referred to a urologist, he will probably discuss the different dilatation options but the quick version:
    1. Non-surgical using the creme along with stretching the foreskin by hand
    2. Non-surgical using the creme and a small balloon type device that you insert and then inflate for a short time to encourage the skin to stretch and grow a wider opening (the opening is called a foramen)
    3. Surgical in which they give you a mild sedative to make you sleepy and then a local anesthetic while the surgeon uses a stretching device to break the fibrous band to allow the foreskin to be stretched
    4. Surgical where they make a small incision in the foreskin that allows it to be pulled back (I mentioned this option in an earlier post- it's called a preputioplasty)

The urologist will examine you to determine how much success you will be able to get and which option he feels might work best for you.

Not sure, its been a long time since I've had the procedure. Normally, after a week I guess, you can wear underwear again, and after 1 more week, the stitches will come out in forms of scabs or something like that

Yes, i was referred to go see a urologist.. We are going June 23 or something like that.. But idk, when the doctor pulled back just a little, i screamed so loud I scared him o_o. it hurted that badly ): As by those steps.. I am hoping the cream will work.. or i might go for the surgical stretching machine..

BUT, my parents want me to get circumsized.. Their like everyone in the USA are circusmsized... You should too =/

    Hey Luis,

I was reading up on this thread, and got a couple things I'd like to mention. First off, good for you for being brave and going to a doctor, not always an easy thing to do. Espically if it means you have to show off your willy. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Second, sounds like you have received some good advice from everybody here. I would just like to add from your last post, don't "over think" or "worry" about anything at this point or get to worked up over the pain, how they can help you, or what you are going to do until you talk to the urologist on the 23rd. He might have some more suggestions/ideas for you as well. From what it sounds like, its pretty tight, but you never know, the urologist has seen this more times then you and I or anyone on here most likely has. As for your parents, the comment about how they want you to get circumcised, I say don't let them pressure you into anything you don't want. It's your penis, and its your decision. They obviously didn't have you circumcised at birth for some reason, they shouldn't be bringing up the "everyone in the States in cut" - I personally don't buy that. Circumcision is declining in North America apparently.

Just my thoughts, hope you make the right decision and do what you want, not what anyone else wants. Long as you are happy in the end, and pain-free. If you don't like what this doctor tells you, find someone you like. Take care and keep us posted.

    Dave.

    Hello again,

I'm sure he will know how much it hurts, just tell him it really hurts, so he can be extra careful. He's going to have to take a good look I'm sure, but he's not hurting you for the hell of it. *hugs* and take care of yourself. I feel bad for yea!

I agree with Dave - explain how much it hurts and ask him to be VERY gentle before you start to get undressed. Also explain what outcome YOU want and ask him whether it is possible.

The pain may not be due to the tightness, but due to the build-up of muck where you haven't been able to clean under there properly (so it's all got stuck together) and a bit of infection. If so they he may want to deal with that before dealing with the tightness.

The urologist is an expert in this sort of thing and specialises in it. He will be dealing with this sort of thing all the time. That is why your doctor, who is more general medicine and not specifically one area, refers you to the specialist.

If you are not happy with the suggestions he makes, question them. Ask about the other options and whether they could be worth trying. It may be that some won't work for you, and if he explains clearly why then although it may not be the answer you want, you will know the reasons.

Good luck, try not to worry, and please let us know how it goes. And well done for taking that first embarrassing step towards getting it sorted.

    Doctor's Appointment - Done.

Okay, Well.. Today was the doctor's appointment for my penis check up.. We waited in the office and i was really nervous and shaking. Once I got in, I checked in and everything and it was my turn.. So, I come in the office really nervous. He said he was shocked that I was here, because it looked like everything was fine. [From Outside, But not about my penis] And I told him.. That I am having a hard time pulling back my foreskin. He said alright.. And I pulled down my pants he tried to push it back.. I screamed soo loud I thought I was going to hell. He was like " Wow your Foreskin is wayy to tight and if you do keep that foreskin that make the penis inflammation" He also mentioned that when I pulled back it suffocates the penis from trying to extend or something.. So, I asked him.. I really dont want to get circumsized.. He said, Trust me if its your best bet on getting circumsized, and I thought about it for a few minutes and said okay I will get it done. We scheduled appointment for July 28 [Monday] and it will be in the morning.. He said, to not worry about it and it will wouldnt be bad at all. He also put in some funny jokes throughout our converation such as, " Oh dont worry, Your penis will be so beautiful once its done that your going to have to make a model of it" I started laughing and it got a good laugh at me and made me feel better. Also, he did mention that since he was from the UK, that most people do not have their foreskins chopped off and it was all started in jewish cultures and such.. He was very cool, and he will be performing the surgergy on me. I am really scared, but once its done, its done.. I really am a bit excited though, Because I could never put a condom on [ Since my foreskin] And once my month is over.. I am gonna try to put it on and stuff :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I have to experiment..

I will make sure to keep you guys all update! And wish me good luck! Sorry for the long post.. If you have any questions for me just post away!

Wow - I'm glad you got to see the doctor. Sorry that the treatment is a little drastic. But in the end you'll be fine I'm sure. Good luck.
