I guess that if there is a tough fibrous ring around the tip of the foreskin you should be able to feel it... but I don't know... my own skin is quite loose. My frenulum is a little short though but it hasn't given me any problems.

In the US, doctors used to resolve the issue with circumcision because most guys used to be circumcised at birth. That's changed in the past 30 years and most doctors will try non-surgical solutions first.

If you want to stay uncircumcised, be sure to tell the doctor that when you talk with him. This will let him know that you want to try non-surgical approaches first.

The stretching exercises do not hurt. Anytime skin is stretched, there is a mild burning sensation (no more than if you pull on the skin on your arm, though). The stretching is something that you're doing over time to expand the skin and it is not painful. The steroid cremes do not burn either.

The surgical options are done under anesthesia. The band stretching option is a little sore for a couple of days but it's not bad. A preputioplasty involves an incision and it has a little swelling and can be a little tender for a few days. On a circumcision, it can be very painful- I've heard adult patients say that it was very sore for a couple of days but they did have soreness when they got erections for a couple of weeks afterward.

This is a good time to get this taken care of since you will have time over the summer vacation to try different options. This can seem like it is a bit embarassing but it is very common and pediatricians see phimosis very often.

As for telling your mom, I suspect that your mom already knows that you have extra foreskin (as moms are always remind us- she did change your diapers after all), you can just say that you have trouble keeping the area clean because you can't pull the skin back and you want to talk to your doctor about it. Eventually, you'll have to tell her about it since your mom will have to consent to treatments.

Your doctor may refer you to a urologist for the exam and to talk about the options.

As you can probably guess, the doctor will examine your penis. He will ask you to pull the foreskin back so that he can see if there is a stenosis. He will then try to expand the ring to see how far it stretches. Be sure to tell the doctor that you want to keep the foreskin and don't want to be circumcised.

There's nothing to worry about- as I mentioned earlier, there are many guys who have phimosis. It's not a serious condition and it's usually easy to take care of.

Ideally, the foreskin should slide back and forth over the head of the penis with little effort. Guys who have stenosis have to be careful because the fibrous band does not stretch and it can be difficult to get the foreskin back over the head of the penis once it is pulled down over the shaft. That is why I recommended that he not try to pull it over the glans before seeing the doctor.

When pulled down over the erect penis, the stenosis gives the penis a coke-bottle shape and it can be quite painful since it doesn't stretch and can restrict the blood supply to the end of the penis.

It is possible to stretch the frenulum, too. Some guys have a large or a tight frenulum that prevents the foreskin from retracting all the way. Usually this doesn't cause too many problems but if it causes you irritation/pain during sex or masturbation, it can be trimmed by a surgeon.

Sad but true story.. About 4 years ago, i was swimming in swim trucks (commondo) and it has netting in the shorts. My penis got stuck in one of the holes. LOL thats how small the foreskin tip of the penis was and they had to cut the netting of the trucks to take it off. The penis was super red and almost had to go to the emergency room. Do you think that might of caused the issue?

I'm not a professional, but I don't think that it would've been caused by anything like thats.

Just try to relax, your doctor will tell you everything you need to know, and you should remember that you may not even need surgery, and that if you end-up requiring surgery it's will be for your benefit. People who have had these problems say that whatever small amount of pain they have (if any), in the end all this pain is replaced with pleasure.

Also don't try stretching without your doctor's advice first, otherwise you might cause yourself more harm than good.

Good luck for the doctors appointment, I hope it all goes well. Just relax and make sure you tell the doctor everything that may be relevant (including preferring to keep your foreskin)

I've seen how far some of my friends can stretch their earlobes, I'm pretty sure you can do the same with your foreskin if you have the patience but I have no idea what techniques you can use. The doctor is def a better choice.
This thread is full of excellent advice from Fred (Miaplacidus ) and KaraBulut, you guys are awesome (*hug*)

I'm sure Karabulut will give you more professional advice - but as far as I am aware nothing like what you describe about your swim trunks could 'cause' Phimosis - it is just a condition that affects a percentage of people - that's just the way the skin is with them.

I don't remember anything about it - but it would appear this might be the reason why I was circumcised. I remember my Mum telling me that she and my Dad had virtually no sleep for the first three months of my life - and that it was due to the fact that I was in distress because I couldn't pee properly...so I assume that is when I lost my foreskin (and my parents began to get some sleep, hehe).

I have seen some circumstances where it seemed like phimosis but it isn't.

I don't know if this would apply to you, but I've seen circumstances where due to masturbation and the lack of cleaning after, an adhesive "substance" (most probably yellow in colour) causes the foreskin to stick to the head. Hence the foreskin appears as if it cannot be retracted, and hence only the tip is visible. But it is in fact due to the adhesive substance. This is extremely troublesome and you should definitely consult the doctor if this is the case. My friend once tried to remove it by himself, and ended up bleeding a little..

Today I went to the doctor, and it was really awkward BUT, she checked and when she tried to pull it as far as it can go.. It really hurted :S It felt like she was going to rip my skin off.. She said that she will try the cream first (Send me to a specialist and see what they will do but she thinks they will do try the cream first) Then, if that doesnt work... Well, she said I had to get circumsized >_< She my foreskin is REALLY REALLY tight. >_< I was like ahh. okay.

I've been to the doctors for this very reasion (my mother wasent going to circumsize me at first). I wanna say this: dont worry about going to the doctors. it'll be fine. they'll put you under a mask, you'll breath a bit, and it'll seem like seconds befor your back up again, wondering why it whent by so fast.

    It may not need circumcision.

Most cases of phimosis can be cured by stretching or making a small slit in the foreskin to make it looser. Circumcision is really a last resort.

If you don't want to lose your forsekin insist on investigating other remedies first. It's your body and to be honest if there's no need for circumcision, there's no need for it.

I should say I'm not a doctor and the above advice is general. Obviously, I don't know your full circumstances although you have said your foreskin in very tight in which case, circumcision may be the only solution.

    Keep us posted.

It's always kind of embarassing to have your private parts examined but I'm glad you took the step and went to the doctor to get this looked at early before it became a problem.

Summer break is a good time to try the creme and see if it works. As I mentioned before, be clear with the specialist that you want to avoid circumcision- there are other things that they can try first. Hopefully the creme will help or at the very least they can correct the problem with a minor surgery without having to do a full circumcision.

If you think about it, keep us updated because this is a pretty common problem and there are others that have phimosis that can benefit from your experience.

I think you may have misunderstood. If you can stretch your foreskin or have a small cut to "widen" it, you then won't feel any pain as your foreskin will go over the glans (head) more freely.

I meant.. the only thing that is holding me back from circumsizing is the pain that occurs after the procedure.. =/ :icon_redf
