Although I seriously doubt I would ever pursue it for myself, I'm not unaware of many transgenders traveling to Thailand for SRS and other gender-related surgeries for pennies on the American dollar. Despite the insurance risk, they seem to have a heck of a high reputation out there for these types of surgeries. And, unlike on American soil, there doesn't seem to be a lot of legislation involving whom is considered eligible for the surgeries and whom isn't.

Of course, it's actually been a few years since I was up to date on how the situation stands in Thailand (guess I must have thought about it seriously enough to research it at one point in the past), so can't pretend this info is current.

i've been told that reconstructive/plastic surgeries are much more common in korea than they are in north america, and virtually anyone can get it, but maybe that extends to most of asia :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: i knew someone who went there to get something or other done to his leg so he didn't have a limp anymore. and it's not uncommon for people to go there to get aesthetic surgeries.

in canada, hrt is covered under our healthcare since gender dysphoria is considered a mental health issue (or so my therapist told me). i'm pretty sure srs is at least partially covered, but you can also go to private practice. (or at least i think so.) but you have to go through a shit ton to get anything (referrals, time living as preferred gender, waiting periods, etc...)

It's a teeny-tiny step, but I asked my Mum if she'd teach me the basics of sewing. I guess my thought is that some day I could sew my own androgynous-look clothes. Or something. (And I can also imagine, some day, saying, "I always wanted to learn how, but didn't think it was something a male "should" do.) In any case, she enthusiastically agreed. So guess how I'll be spending my Saturdays for the next month?

That's actually a great idea! Kudos for taking that initiative to ask your mum to teach you. Wish I had had a mother that taught me how to sew, I'd be saving hundreds on my shopping binges, lol.

Please keep us updated on your progress!

    Sherlock >> (*hug*)

Also, I keep contemplating not shaving for a few weeks to see how much of a beard I can grow since 3 days of not shaving has resulted in profuse and very visible stubble... hmm... to beard or not to beard, that is the question!

Yea I'm definitely shaving tomorrow once guests are gone.

Also, I'm feeling my friend out. He didn't seem too taken aback by my picture. In fact he had no clue it was me.

Not sure I'm at "come out to him stage" but I'd like that level of comfort. We'll see.

So, the thought occurred to me while standing in a cafe today that I wonder what gender/s people read me as...

Unrelated, this is awesome, and now I want to date Belle. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
