I know a fair amount of gay guys (my own friends and my parents' friends), and I can only think of one whose sexuality totally surprised me. Most of them are masculine to some extent, but are still obviously gay, at least for me.

I don't know many gay people. There's one guy who I know quite well, I know he's bi/gay but although he isn't very feminine, it's quite clear he isn't straight. Then there's some other gay guys of who I wasn't surprised to hear they were gay. Oh and one lesbian girl, but it again was no surprise to me when I heard about it.

Then there's my ex boyfriend, he seems straight, but then again he claims to be straight now anyway.

I do know some bi girls who could pass as straight.

I only know one, unfortunately. I say unfortunately because as a Pansexual I'm only attracted to other men who are masculine.

Now, I think my understanding of masculine is different than everyone else's. I mean NOT flamboyant and queeny. I mean dresses in men's clothing and doesn't speak with a high pitch voice and wear makeup. I do not mean watches football, dopey sounding meathead, frat boy voice-type of masculine.

I don't like sports at all and have almost no interest in cars. I can kill it to some Beyonce and I love shopping. What I don't do is regularly express a feminine tone of voice and vibe or speak 16 octaves higher than I'm supposed to. I also don't snap my fingers every seconds and sway my hips when I walk.

For some reason men like this are not very present in the gay community as often as the extremely flamboyant and queeny gays are. I wonder why this is.

The boy I used to have a crush on. He grew up to be very masculine and even hotter! I haven't talked to him or seen him in a billion years so, I don't know what his mannerisms are like or how his voice sounds. But appearance wise, you'd never been able to tell. He looks like he would be very muscular underneath his clothing, he's got facial hair, and his hair is very short.

I know lots of them, including myself that don't present as feminine, but everyone has feminine qualities, gay or straight, as they do masculine qualities. By the way, the more uber-masculine you act, the more I'm inclined to think you're gay. Just saying.

Yes, the first person I came out to was a guy who was ironically the former youth minister for my university-affiliated church (former because he resigned after starting to come out). He regularly ran marathons, was really fit, had an iron handshake (it kind of hurt :frowning2: ), but he was a total softie and very helpful to everyone. Though, he's bi, so I'm not sure that counts.

No, but I''ll update you if this one masculine guy at my school comes out. His family is super religious, so he probably wouldn't be coming out any time soon anyway.

Sure do. I've had a lot of people surprise me with their sexuality, because although I try my hardest not to do so, stereotyping is a thing. I've also known a fair number of straight guys who act very feminine.
