    I'm listening to KGO on am radio 810. They're talking all about it and they're having people call in and talk about it and what they think. It's cool.

    O ya and also my dad was telling me that the discrimination of gay people will go way down because it'll be a law and it will be taught in ALL schools now. They were saying on the radio that its required to teach it now, so more and more people will be okay with it in california! and then it also changes laws for the army (dont ask dont tell law.) and etc..!!!!

    I saw it on CNN when I got home. AWESOME!

    I just hope it doesn't end up like it did here in Iowa, with a Judge overturning the decision in a couple of days.

    This is SO SO SO exciting, I was reading about it before and they said it wasnt very likley that they would overturn the whole law, and guess what? They did!!! I LOVE CALI!!!

    But just today there was a guy on my campus yelling with a huge sign that said we were all going to hell. Wonder if he's associated with Westboro baptist church. Oh well, people were just goofing off around him to piss him off, and dancing with their shirts on their heads.

    Funny, I read CNN screwed up and were posting the opposite for like 20 minutes before they got it right. Evidently they weren't so confident that the ban would be overturned.

    Must have been ealier today. I made the mistake of turning to Fox News right after CNN finished their little discussion of it, and found one of the guys from a "family" group ranting about what a horrible mistake it was. He did worry me though, because he talked about how it would rally the Right Wingers in California to vote in November.

    This is also being discussed on another forum I have belonged to for quite awhile. Homosexuality has never really been brought up, so I'm interested to see what people's opinions are. So far, its 7-2 in favor of the California decision!

    Most of California outside SF, the Bay Area, and LA is very conservative, actually. Or so I've been told by people who live there.

    It would be highly unlikely for anything (other than the constitutional amendment the right-wing fundies are trying to get passed) to be able to overturn a decision by the California Supreme Court. It's the highest court in the land.

    Yes, but the presidential candidates have stated they want to leave the decision up to the states, not the federal courts. Therefore, when one of them gets elected, if they keep their promise, then we should be getting everything straight marriages would have, so long as the governor and such agree :S

    Finally a reason to like the fact I live in cali =P Makes me somewhat happy :astonished:

    Highly unlikely... I doubt McCain, especially, would overturn the federal DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) legislation. When they say they want to "leave it up to the states," that's just their weaselly way of side-stepping the issue and not having to come out against it and risk alienating their moderate and left-wing supporters. It's "nice," I guess, that they aren't going to continue in GWB's footsteps and attempt to get the federal government involved in overturning pro-gay marriage rulings in the states (because let's face it, none of them are talking about interfering at the state level to allow gay marriage) but it's not like they're promising to end the federal ban on same-sex marriage. There's something like over 1000 federal benefits one gets from being considered married federally in the US... and those benefits are still denied any same-sex married couple in Massachusetts and (shortly) California.

    From the clip I saw, I think Mr. Lemon read the 2004 decision and started assuming that was today's decision. I'm surprised it took 20 minutes to catch it, though. Bad newscasting.

    So, there's now conservative groups trying to get the court to postpone it's decision til the fall... Read for more info about that. The quote in there about it needing to become a constitutional amendment made me want to track the guy down and hurt him -.-
