The Canes have a chance to be good this year. Picking up a second Staal and Semin would improve any team. Also Jamie McBain and Justin Faulk will be good defensemen for a long time.

    Boo! *bitter canucks fan*

    Definitely agree.

One issue Vanek always has is he usually plays with a couple different nagging injuries throughout the year, which slows him down offensively. If he can stay completely healthy, he's got a chance to be an MVP candidate.

Pominville has been excellent as well and is so underrated. He has great chemistry with Vanek, too. Vanek-Hodgson-Pominville has by far been the Sabres' best line, but they haven't gotten much from the other three lines.

Well, they did win a Stanley Cup without him. That playoff year is still so painful for me. Sabres were so close even without five of their top six d-men.

I know its early but what are some teams you are surprised with this so for this season ?

Anaheim is doing really well, and NYI.

Carolina and Philly are not doing to great thus far.

Probably Montreal, Tampa, and Edmonton doing as well as they have been, and LA doing as poorly as they are right now.

    Though, it's a SSS:

I'm really not that surprised by any team so far except for Anaheim and Montreal. I don't think it's going to last though, especially for Montreal.

Really hoping the Ducks will be out of it by the deadline and trade Getzlaf.

Three more points for Vanek today. He how has 19 points in 8 games - just sick.

I know a team that would love to have Getzlaf:

    That pic is awesome.

But yeah, I'm guessing about 20 teams would have interest. I'd give up a lot to get him.

Man you made my day ARTURS IRBE was awesome!

I was raised a leafs fan but I've been going to school in Raleigh for the past year and now supports the canes. The Leafs still hold a spot in my heart but it's lame being a fan of a team that you can't even afford to see play. Cane's games cost $60 for premo seats. Go Canes!

Tampa is not that surprising, except for goaltending they are pretty solid.

It is a SSS, but with the short season we are what would be 12-15 games into a regular season.

The Sabres are really pissing me off.

Right now, they're nothing more than a one line team with no depth. Undoubtedly not a playoff team, either.

    I'm jealous.

I miss playing hockey a lot.

Time is really my biggest problem now that I'm in college. But I do play-by-play for my university's hockey team, so that somewhat keeps me involved in the sport.

Nah, but I really enjoy doing it and it looks good on my resume for my major.

Cole's good, but Rick Jeanneret crushes everyone in broadcasting.

Of course, my idol among all sports broadcasters is Vin Scully. Did everything by himself for more than 60 years! He broadcasted Brooklyn Dodgers game!

Ah, that call gives me chills, as does this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvNy7pVCDLA I was at that game.

And, yeah, Scully is awesome, too.

I don't know why, but Jeanneret's voice always gives me a laugh. Probably because of the way he talks, he kind of reminds me of Harry Caray.

Ha ha, a lot of people either really like Jeanneret or really hate him. But I love his passion.

Shitsburgh by far has the worst PBP men in the league, and I'd say Boston second worst.
