    I feel like it's time for a new roleplay thread! We haven't had one of these in a while!

    Here are the rules:
    -No Mary Sues or "perfect" characters
    -Follow basic roleplay protocol (don't control others' characters, ex.)
    -Be as creative as you want! Make new monsters, plotlines, powers, whatever!
    -Use past tense and 3rd person (he walked, she talked)
    -Provide a character sheet with gender, background, powers, species, excetera, before posting an action. You may control multiple (no more than 3) characters so long as you can handle them all
    -Romance is allowed, but please keep drama to a minimum
    -If I'm not online, feel free to time skip if the scene needs it
    -You can request to form a new guild provided you set up the location and relationship with other guilds

    Story:
    In the medieval land of Atharia, there have been recent outbreaks of crime caused by monsters. No one is entirely sure why, though it may be connected to the mysterious quarzine crytals going missing. To combat the rampant attacks, guilds have begun cropping up as a means for hunters, as they are known, to band together and protect the country and each other. One guild seeking members is the Black Canyon Guild, located near a massive waterfall in the depths of a pine forest. This guild literally has its foundations in the jagged cliff walls, natural protection against most threats. Atharia is a wild, untamed country. There are few large villages, and most people are farmers or tradespeople.

    You may have noticed that I left the description fairly open ended. There's a lot of room for the story and roleplay to grow. Everyone can feel free to add in their own creativity on pretty much any area they'd like. And yes, this may or may not be based on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

    My character:
    Name: Jay Silpin
    Gender: Male
    Appearance: dark brown hair, light blue eyes. He can often be seen wearing a dark blue jacket lined with rabbit fur. His weapon of choice is an enchanted bow and arrow which is linked to emotions, though he isn't good at close combat fighting.
    Species: Sensor- a humanoid species that can sense others' emotions and tug on these emotional "threads" in order to harm or control them.
    Background: Jay prefers to keep his past shrouded in mystery, preferring not to expose weaknesses to anyone who might want to exploit him. He is young for a hunter, 19 years old. He is the founder of Black Canyon Guild, which, even with such a fancy name, only has one member: himself. He has a strong sense of morality and wants to stop innocent people from being harmed by monsters and perhaps investigate the quarzine crystal mystery. More than anything, he dreams of creating a large guild capable of protecting anyone being targeted by evil.

    Have fun! :smilewave

    ---------- Post added 1st Dec 2015 at 06:27 PM ----------
    I'll start:
    The forest was dark and lovely at night. Jay had always loved the scent of the pine trees, gently swaying in the soft summer wind. He was perched atop the edge of a large cliff overlooking the shaded river fed by the hulking shape of the waterfall. Though daunting to most, he was unfazed by such heights. The cliffs along the Black Canyon were his home. For many years, he'd taken refuge in the winding caverns in the cliff walls beneath the quiet forest. One day, Jay wanted more than anything to transform those barren caves into a guild filled with hunters like him: ones who would wanted to rid the world of dangerous monsters and be able to pledge their lives to such an end.
    Jay suddenly picked up a sound in the once silent night. The most minute sound of a footstep on the bed of pine needles blanketing the forest floor. What or who could it be?

    Name: Thorn (nickname, real not revealed)
    Gender: female
    Appearence: average height, with blood red hair and mismatched green eyes. Wears a shirt and tight pants with a leather cloak wrapped around her.
    Species: unknown, but often called 'fairie'
    Personality: she has high levels of self-restraint, but is not the most patient person. Often referred to as a sadist, she finds a certain thrill in killing, but refuses to kill for fun. Very silent and serious, she has a tendency of (accidently) scaring people, though she dosen't mind, finding it fun.
    Background: Parents and birth unknown, she is often referred to as a 'Child of Darkness', as she sticks mostly to herself, and her face has a perpetual scrowl that she can never seem to tame, and she has a knack of finding and spreading information. However, she hates working in large groups mostly because the first group she joined left her for dead, leading her to easily mistrust people.

    ~

    "Are you Jay?"

    Thorn's quiet voice asked. She had heard of him-a young hunter setting out to make a guild. Personally, she found the idea hilarious-who could make their own guild on such a whim?-but she realized the locations were high up in the mountains. She didn't partically dislike them, but they were a great place to escape to after a long day of an information hunter. After all, some targets did strike back, especially after she's reduced their reputation to shreds.

    The man-Jay- stared at her, and she fought the urge to turn away. This was the only chance she had.

    "I heard of your ambition. A stupid one, nonetheless. But I want to help you. Prove to me that my desicion isn't a stupid one."

    Name: Just Davy (First name 'Just' last name 'Davy')
    Gender: Male
    Appearance: Slightly taller than average. Slightly more than overweight. Filthy to the extreme and doesn't care. Wears a ragged, yellowing shirt, and a filthy kilt in his 'family' colors. He carries with him a medium sized satchel, and a green cloak (which is nicer than everything else he owns.)
    Species: Underneath the filth, a human yet remains.
    Personality: A drunk. Usually. He spends his days wallowing in self-hate, unless he has a bottle. Despite that, a kind hearted person, who cares more for the well being of others than himself. He can be quick to anger, especially if one he cares about is threatened. He doesn't talk much about himself or his past, but late at night, if the fire is warm, he'll share a little bit. He's looking for a new purpose in life.
    Background: His entrance into this world was not a kind one. His mother wanted nothing more than to give him away immediately, and when the doctor badgered her to name him she shouted in a fit of rage "Fine! DAVY! JUST DAVY!" He grew up on the streets, until a smith took pity on him and taught him the trade. He has a knack for making, and is as good a bladesmith as you can find. He took a wife when he was 20, and they lived happily for a few years, even having several children. But when the beasts came, they stole away all that he had built. His forge, his home, and his family. He now spends his days wandering about, looking for something new to drive him.

    (OOC, sorry for the length. That one got away from me...)

    ~~~
    Davy stumbled through the forest, belting out his favorite song as he went.
    "But gi' me the ramblin' rover, fae Orkney dun t' Dover!" He stopped in his tracks. At his feet was a rushing river, cast in shadow by the cliffs that lurked evilly over the land.
    "Well who ha' put this here?" He questioned the trees, slurring his words. "Can nae bloody ge' places when there 're rivers and shite blocking th' way!" He went to take a swig from his bottle, only to find it empty. He stared at it for a moment, before letting out a scream of anguish. He dropped to his knees on the bank of the river. "O' laurd! Why must yew torture me so?! Can y' no' pick on someone else fer a change?!" He opened his eyes and looked to the top of the cliff. There, standing upon the precipice, were two figures, seemingly in discussion.
    "Hey! Y' bloody idiots! Give me purpose!" He let out a wild laugh. The world faded around him, and he fell face first in the mud.
    Thorn had no intention to deal witb idiots. In the short 11 or so years of her life that she could remember, she had seen enough idiots in the world to spur her to gain more knowledge. She had seen her fair share of idiots-mainly those who claimed to be able to single-handedly bring down the monsters behind the stolen crystals. As an information broker, she'd seen more then the average person. (Idiots, however, did provide her with a steady source of income, so she couldn't say she outright gated them.)
    However, the moment she heard a yell-followed by a drunken one-she groaned. By the time she'd turned towards the noise, a splat, much softer then the original yelling, had shut the drunk up. He'd evidently face planted himself into the mud.
    "You know," she slowly started, lips curling into a sneer as she watched the man on the ground, "If your guild members are going to be of...that caliber, I will sincerly regret my desicion of joining your guild."
    Name: Glitterbeam
    Gender: Female
    Appearance: Tall (for her titchy race) and slender, wrapped in silken light-blue clothing. Bare-bellied, with the crest of her guild tattooed on her stomach: a slanted eye with a light-grey pupil. Incidentally, this color was also the color of Glitterbeam's eyes, and was shared by most of her race. This was because the Superior Guide, the head, of their guild had made a divine pact. This deal meant that their race gain psychic powers to read the minds of other races; the cost was that they lost most of their eyesight as a toll. This trait becoming genetically dominant and was now shared by most of their race.
    Species: Fairy. ½ feet - 1 feet tall, they dwell in communities in the forests of Atharia. They have one major kingdom in the region; the kingdom of Nauthhend (Sindarin (Elvish) for "glance of heart/glance of mind", as in reading minds/hearts). Can fly.
    Personality: Glitterbeam's thoughts are always in the clouds. She's a chronic soul-searcher and daydreamer with a generally negative attitude toward things, that she herself calls "just being realistic". She doesn't have many close relationships and is something of a loner. She can be spiteful and likes to play around with her ability to read people of other races and her own, sometimes to manipulate them for fun.
    Background: Fairly high-born in her kingdom, she always had expectations put on her that she loathed to oblige to correct herself after. She longed most of all to try out her abilities, which were well-known in her kingdom, in the real world outside of the safe walls that she had distain towards, as she thought of them as being basically surreal.
    ~~
    Glitterbeam was fluttering along, bored as was her wont, around some cliffs, when suddenly she saw a truly filthy human talking to himself in a drunken haze. He is pathetic, she mused. But then he shouted "Hey! Y' bloody idiots! Give me purpose!" She froze. A beaconful of emotion had been brought to the surface of her being from the well of her heart. He is like me, she thought. He fell into the mud - Glitterbeam yelped. She flew toward his side.
    Name: Drakken
    Gender: Male
    Species: Marinus. A race of beings whose culture ties them to the Seas. They have little land territory, which exists only as a cluster of islands 3500 miles away from the nearest large nation. They are known for their enormous sailing ships.
    Appearance: A tanned, able bodied person with long flowing black hair which has a beaded braid in it. His eyes are golden in color. He wears mage style robes in red and gold colors, and he wears several large stoned rings, His pants are basic, which match his hooded top. He wears sandals with bronze buckles. He also wears a silver necklace with a large star ruby in it. He carries a broadsword with a whale ivory handle.
    Personality: A rather aloof person, he takes his time with strangers. He himself is not the easiest to get to know. he also can be rather grumpy at times. however, he is good to those he knows, especially the crew of his ship which he is named after. His father named him after the ship that he passed on to Drakken.
    Background: The son of Ship Builder, and a Captain, Both of his parents worked hard for a good part of what he has. The rest he has achieved on his own. His parents both passed away while he was still young, however he already knew the code of the sea, and so, took control of his father's ship at the age of 15. He has sailed from port to port ever since.
    ---------- Post added 2nd Dec 2015 at 10:33 AM ----------
    Drakken and his currently small crew have sailed up a strange river and have had to drop anchor due to the enormous waterfall in their path. They have never been there, and much of Drakken's crew are wary of the expansive wilderness. They decide as a group to stay in the safety of the huge galleon-like ship.
    Drakken said to himself. "What is this dreary place?"
    Name: Orion
    Gender: male
    Appearance: average height, Dark brown hair and eyes. Has both sides of if his head shaved leaving a stripe of hair on the middle of his head forming into a ponytail. He's wearing a platemail armor piece covering his chest and shoulders embroidered with symbols of his home land. With a red shirt underneath his armor forming into a tunic going down to his knees.
    Personality: he is a natural healer even though he try to act tough. He's always thinking about the good of the whole and will gladly make sacrifices for others. His weapon of choice is his knife but prefers not to use it. He trusts people easily and is very friendly. He has the ability to be clairvoyant occasionally and can energetically heal others, but finds it very difficult to control.
    Backround: he comes from a long line of shamans and healer. He would always have prophetic dreams but no one would believe him. Recently they've been getting worse and worse so he set off to see if he could do something about it.
    After wondering the dense pine forest for a few days Orion felt like he was going in circles. He then decided to find the tallest tree and climb it to get a feel of his surroundings. After finding one he then climbed it (after several failed attempts), spotted a massive water fall and decided to head in that direction.
    Character
    Name: Stephen "The Alchemist's son"
    Gender: Male
    Appearance: Dark brown/black hair, tan skin, light brown eyes, medium height. Wears a commoner's outfit: ratty, brown clothes with patches on the joints. A simple knife hangs by his beltside, along with a leather satchel containing herbs of various kinds. He often wears a silk maroon scarf - a gift given to him before his mother passed. It is much too expensive for any noble, let alone a commoner, but he's managed to dodge questions about its whereabouts.
    Stephen is an alchemist that is adept in both herbology and medicine. He is a scholar at heart and has an intense thirst for knowledge. He spends his days gathering herbs and experimenting, and volunteering at the town's infirmary whenever he is needed. Stephen is known as "The Alchemist's Son", an informal title that bothered him at first, but after he moved from the distant kingdom of Ravengaurde, he adopted the title proudly. He may not be blood-related to the Alchemist, but he does feel like he is his father.
    Stephen DOES hold a secret... but we shall wait to see what it is.
    Boneset, also called Eupatorium perfoliatum - a white flowery herb used to help with fevers. Despite Stephen's knowledge of illness-curing herbs, he was not familiar with this particular herb, native to the land of Atharia.
    "Eupatorium Perfoliatum," he muttered underneath his scarf. He took out a scroll from his satchel and stared at an image of the herb.
    [IMG]
    "Where are you, you God forsaken plant?"
    Winter was approaching fast, and with winter comes headaches, fevers, and runny noses. Despite the bitter cold, he knew he had to stock up on herbs before snowfall. A blizzard could easily multiply his scavenging time ten fold, and he did not want to waste his efforts.
    He sighed and trudged along, making his way up the mountain. Boneset was an herb found in wet regions, but the only place he can think of are waterfalls near the mountain caves. He made a silent note of the long 10-mile trail of footsteps behind him. It'll be quite a trek home if he doesn't find these herbs soon.
    Minutes later, he heard the roaring sound of water. Stephen exhaled in relief.
    "Thank the Gods, I'm almost there-"
    "If your guild members are going to be of...that caliber, I will sincerely regret my decision of joining your guild."
    Stephen froze. He heard a voice in the distance. A female one - mocking, angry, and impatient. There was an edge to it that made him shiver.. or was it the cold? He couldn't tell.
    Slowly, he sneaked his way toward the waterfall, make sure not to step on branches or anything that would give him away. Stephen knew this nosiness may be a bad idea, but his burning curiosity always got the best of him.
    "Curiosity can kill, Stephen." Stephen heard his mother's voice in his head. "Remember that."
    Hmph. How ironic.
    Stepping behind a tree, he peeked behind the thick trunk. In the distance he could see a group of individuals - fighters, with weapons of different types. A sword, a bow, a knife. Their heights and statures varied.
    A guild, perhaps?
    Stephen focused, and saw something white and flowery in the distance.
    "Bonesets!" His heart jumped in happiness and relief, only to sink a second later as he realized where the herbs were - right under the shoes of the fighters.
    Should he turn around? He didn't want to cause any trouble or intrude, but he really did need those herbs. It would be a pain to turn around and then come back tomorrow, and he didn't want to chance waking up to snow. These herbs would be hard to find, and their potency will be greatly decreased if they're frozen. He couldn't have that.
    "15 minutes," Stephen muttered under his breath. "15 minutes and then I'll leave."
    He sighed and continued to peer at the group from behind the tree.
    I wonder what they're up to?
    Jay wasn't surprised by the sudden activity. He'd felt their auras, their inner energies, like little pinpricks of light in his mind. He had been waiting, knowing some strange people would arrive, yet not quite knowing their secrets or full intentions. Not that it mattered at the moment. All he would have to do now would be to assess the competency of these strangers.
    The first to arrive, the youngest one, the one that had known his name, stood before him clutching at the edges of her leather cloak before him. And he knew her name. Thorn. The name describing the maroon-purple swirl of energy surrounding the girl.
    Thorn may have put up a just as equally thorny proposition:
    "I heard of your ambition. A stupid one, nonetheless. But I want to help you. Prove to me that my desicion isn't a stupid one."
    Maybe she scoffed his plans now, but he could feel her desperation. Something had drove her here. Even if she wanted to seem aloof, she was still here. Here for a reason.
    "You proof that joining the Black Canyon Guild isn't a stupid decision?" He repeated, ignoring the large person who had just taken a fall into the mud. "You came here yourself. I can tell that you aren't an idiot. This is a prime location, hidden rocky caverns, water access, a remote mountain forest. And you know my name at the very least. I assume you know more than that. So you would know that I take my business as a hunter seriously. And the gentleman over there could be on a midnight frolic for all that I know. He hasn't spoken a single word to me, let alone joined the guild. If an opportunity like this doesn't interest you, I know several others that wouldn't mind taking your place," Jay challenged, and it was true. There were several diverse characters in the forest tonight. Their energy clashed against the environment, making them obvious in Jay's mind.
    Jay's treatment of his first possible guild member may have seemed pompous to others, but he felt it important to test this recruit before letting his guard down. She didn't seem to be the most trustworthy person. Jay awaited her reply with cautious hope.
    Stephen bit his lip.
    10 minutes. I highly doubt they're going to move anytime soon, and it's already past midnight.
    Drakken's crew all turned in for the night. Drakken himself stayed out on deck to watch the stars for a while.
    He thought to himself: Its a beautiful night.
    Smothering the smirk tugging on her lips, Thorn nodded. "It is...interesting tonight," she started slowly, eyes flickering to the people who had crowded outside of the cave. She knew each by name-they were each famous in their own rights, especially Jay. Infamous, that man was. His name was spoken with a shiver, but yet there was the underlying tone of admiration. That had been what prompted her to come to his guild-to allow him to prove his worth.
    "Tonight, allow the moon to be my witness-you are worthy of being my master. Greetings to you," she fell on a knee, and though her tone was polite, her eyes held challange. No doubt he would have heard of her-her name too, was spread far and wide-but if he accepted her into his guild...she licked her lips in anticipation. It was going to be so much more interesting then she first thought it would have been. Especially with the other....creatures.
    Glancing behind her, she straightened before Jay could reply, side-stepping and motioning to the boy behind the tree. "Simply keeping silent has no use. Speak up, boy." A sneer curled at her lips as she watched the boy's hestiance at collecting the herb. "Hurry, boy!" She barked.
