I didn't read all of the responses but I'll say this.

People other than gay men wear scarves. However, it you want to draw attention to your homosexuality, a good way to start is by getting a scarf. What a straight man looks like wearing one and what a gay man looks like wearing one is pretty obvious in public. Also, where and why you're wearing it - people will take into consideration when they're wondering about your sexuality.

And finally. If you have to ask "do only gay men wear scarves," chances are lots of people think only gay men wear scarves.

I think the difference is how gay men and straight men wrap the scarves around their neck?

Though I find men with scarves sexier :3

I like scarves. They might go great w/ my Ushanka hat. :icon_cool

I noticed you seem frightened at the possibility of living on your own. It may seem scary not knowing how to do things, but self education is very empowering. You have a computer, so you already have access to the largest database in the world (internet). I personally find 'About.com' and 'Investopedia' to be pretty helpful on various subjects.

I don't know if there's a 'Canadian Dream', but i think that if you can think it, you can do it.

but, back to scarves, no, gay men are not the only ones to wear scarves. Plenty of people, no matter their orientation wear them.

HAHAHA! ^^exactly what I was thinking

    All men wear scarves.

250 dollar Gucci scarf? That limits the amount of men that would wear it.

I LOVE the scarf though!

    You live in Canada.

I think a scarf is an appropriate dress during the winter.

I think though a lot of gay men wear scarves as a fashion sense, but so do straight dudes. I always see hipster douche bags downtown Toronto wearing a scarf in like fucking October.

The scarf was invented without sexuality in mind, so I think it is ok to go ahead an wear it. No article of common clothing was invented with sexuality in mind. They're all for functionality and comfort.

As a Canadian, I think asking wether you can wear a scarf or not is ridiculous. It is FUCKING FREEZING, so I think a scarf would be a GOOD idea, not a GAY one.

Do you go OUTSIDE IN THE WINTER HERE? There are SCARVES ALL OVER THE PLACE. Almost every Canadian kid grows up wearing a scarf in the winter.

A Gucci Scarf, that may be pushing it, unless your some kind of rap pop artist, I'd say that's pretty gay... well I'd still say that's pretty gay.

The Canadian dream is surviving the upcoming winter, and making sure there is enough socialized maple syrup for all. In Quebec we call this "Tabernacle au Canard".

No, but many insecure straight (or "straight") men think so. I don't know how it is where you are in Canada, but I know in Europe it is a lot more common for guys to wear scarves regardless of sexuality, without concern about appearing gay, compared to the United States. Here I generally would without even thinking assume a guy who is wearing a scarf is gay or bisexual...

I've always worn scarves since I was a child when it was cold out...nowadays I wear a shemagh/keffiyeh as a scarf in all seasons, I have them in a few different colours, they're not expensive and they make a statement against oppression, though they are very popular with hipsters...I don't have the money to spend on any expensive designer scarves or anything right now anyway....

Why worry about what other people will think about how you dress? I mean, you are gay...one of the best things about being gay is not having to worry if you're acting or talking or dressing a certain way that will make you appear gay...it's insecure straight guys who have to go through this paranoia that they can't wear a certain article of clothing or like a certain hobby because it will make them gay...

Plus kacho is right...scarves on guys ARE sexy... :icon_wink

Well there's no way for them to know you're gay by how you dress, unless you're wearing a rainbow t-shirt that says "I'm Gay" on it...:newcolor:

Do you live in a progressive/trendy/urban sort of area filled with hipsters and where most people, male and female, are fashionable? If so, you should be able to fit in without drawing suspicion. If you live in a conservative area where men aren't expected to care about fashion or how they dress, then I guess you might have an issue.

And in places like France and Italy (even England nowadays, as by osmosis from the sunnier countries), straight men don't have hang-ups about kissing one another on the cheek as a greeting gesture, and go on without making the immediate prudish association that it's "eww, gay."

What a different world we live in... In Puritannical America.. Sigh... :eusa_doh:

Ya I love in Vancouver it's pretty fashionable I think. I'm not a hipster though I don't like that style.... I'm more a designer clothing person.

the Seattle fashion scene is better... Not as conformist and uniform in its dress as Vancouver.

You have everything here, from hipsters, to rastafarians, to emos, to wiggers, grungie metal-types, manga-ish hairstyles and custom apparel, to new age trance/house music type apparel with drooping leg cuffs at the bottom of the jeans.

I think it's a matter of insecurity among heterosexual-identified males in this country. It's a national cultural problem. Same reason they all drive Hummers/SUVs and love illegal wars of aggression. They are extremely insecure in their masculinity.

Alright, not a hipster, but a metrosexual...surely you have a lot of those in Vancouver? Either way, if you have lots of hipsters and metrosexuals around you should be able to fit in without drawing suspicion about your sexuality.

Which reminds me, Texas not too surprisingly has a higher rate of gay porn viewership than "rabid liberal", and more populous California.

Now we know what all those Cowboys watch when they bring their laptops with them "out on the range.":lol:

Actually, come to think of it... a cute college twink/jock with a raggedy Texan accent would be amazingly hot, haha...
