Are you the only LGBT person in your family?

No, I had a cousin that was also gay and was disowned by the extended family many years ago. When my father passed away, my mother confided in me that he was gay. I am an only child and there were many signs when I was growing up but I just didn't catch them. He was always supportive of my lifestyle.

My hubby is one of 3 children, and his brother is gay as well. It seems to run in the family!

Nope, I'm not the only one: my daughter is bisexual, like me. I've suspected that others in my family might not be straight, but it's purely conjecture. I'd wondered about my late aunt (we had a lot in common), but I never came across anything in any of the things she left behind to indicate it. I actually don't have a lot of living, biological family left, but if any of them (or those who've passed) are anything besides straight, they must have played it very close to the chest.

 

I have a distant cousin on my mom's side. I do not think that he has come out to my uncle. His sister confided in my brother who told my mom. My uncle is very prejudice, so i dont blame him for not coming out of the closet. I am going through the same thing with my dad.

I have and had some lgbt cousins in my family in my mom and dad´s sides.

 

I have a maternal gay aunt. My dad's side is super religious, and wouldn't be surprised if a couple of them were but don't feel comfortable.

 

To the best of my knowledge, yes. But, the fact that I don't know of anyone else doesn't mean much.

 

As far as I know, I'm the only LGBT person in my family. However, there is a distant side who prefers to pretend I don't exist because of my mother. So who knows? That's getting into pretty distant territory though. I don't have any close relatives who are LGBT.

 

Nope! One of my mum’s brothers is gay, and I have one cousin who identifies herself as pansexual, I think. They all live on the opposite end of the world though. As for my family here, I’m the only one I know of.

 

I'm sure there are others but none are mentioned. I wouldn't be surprised if any suicides in my family were gay and one who died in a car accident had me suspicious if he was gay and it wasn't an accident. Very sad state of affairs in 2022.

 

I have two cousins on my dad's side, one is gay and the other is into men and uses he/they pronouns. I used to be close to the one my age. On my mom's side though I'm the only one (unless one of the younger cousins secretly is, which I don't think is likely). Sometimes I suspect my brother could be gay, or ace, and doesn't want to tell any of us. After what happened to me he has a good reason not to come out if he is, but as long as he's happy I don't care what his orientation is.

 

No, I do not really think so from my mother's side, but I am starting to catch the signs of my cousin on my dad's side being gay so......I'm waiting to see xD-

 

In my immediate family... yes, I think so. I've considered if my brother is a closeted gay but I don't like to dwell on it since it's his personal business. I do have a bi aunt though.

 

I honestly am not sure. I know of some friends of relatives that are LGBT, but actual blood family I am not sure.

 

I know for sure that my aunt is bisexual and my mom is some sort of nonbinary (and straight), but doesn't feel the need to come out with it. She's always had a more androgynous personality and interests. Everyone suspected my cousin to be gay, but he has a girlfriend now. He had a male friend with whom he lived together. Maybe he's bi? Idk.
