I'd be amazed if it isn't. Would turn out that I have almost no sexual experience xD

I think it is a form of sex, but in my view the word "virgin" represents penetration (anal or vaginal). You can be a virgin and have had oral sex thousands of times. But, if someone asks if you had sex, it is not completely honest to say no.

Actually this is incorrect; the term 'virgin' only applies to vaginal intercourse, not anal. If you have anal sex you are technically a virgin to heterosexual culture. You gotta stick your dick in a vagina for it to be considered 'real sex'.

I guess that's just my own definition. I suppose my own definition is useless though if nobody else views it defined in the same way... lol.

That's true many straight people think gay men are virgins if they never slept with a woman .

And that's fine, I think everyone has their own definition. My "personal" definition (as a queer woman) is that oral, vaginal, anal, and hands (manual) all count as a loss of virginity, but the dictionary definition states that only heterosexual intercourse does.

So it depends on the person as long as they don't push their definition on someone else's sex life.

I suppose that as a gay man I take the heterosexual (vaginal) intercourse one step further and consider anal intercourse to be losing one's virginity, so that it applies to me. However, it does leave a lot of people out. Honestly, though, if there is that much ambiguity/variation in the definition of the word it's kind of worthless to describe someone's sexual experience...

I don't know. For gay people, I suppose it almost has to count as sex because of the lack of a "conventional" means of sex.

But for straight people, I suppose it doesn't necessarily take away your virginity.

    It's a real grey subject I suppose.

Personally, I think the all sexual activity (oral/anal/vaginal/hands) works just fine in describing someone's sexual history or virginity loss status. I think the strict definition (penetration) is more worthless to describe sexual experience these days because our society now has a different view on it. Non-penetrative sex acts still spread diseases and aren't any less emotional or lifechanging than anything else, so It becomes more of an arbitrary and useless definition. Especially since more gay/straight people are deciding they don't like penetration at all and choose to reject it from their sex lives entirely. Therefore by our societal standards now.....the term 'virginity loss' doesn't really apply to anyone at all.

If I wanted to date a virgin, then it wouldn't matter that they've never been penetrated; It matters that they're clean of STD's and that I'm the first person they've ever touched. So if someone has sucked a dick and says they're a virgin, it feels like some sort of cheap lie to me because they've still engaged in 'slutty' behavior so they're not 'saving' anything or truly considering me their first.

My definition of sex: Any act performed with another person with the goal of achieving sexual pleasure.

My definition of foreplay: Any act performed with another person with the goal of achieving sexual arousal.

Since oral sex is generally performed with the goal of achieving sexual pleasure, it's a form of sex, not foreplay.

I heard this a lot when I was a teenager. Girls would have oral and anal sex and not vaginal sex with guys because they wanted to technically keep their virginity. I always found that sooo weird! I thought, ok, go ahead and tell a gay man or a lesbian who have only been with the same sex they are virgins because they don't have vaginal sex. Ummm no. It's sex too. Although yeah, it can be a lesser part of sex in some instances and be a warm up to vaginal or anal sex... but technically it is still sex. If you are getting sexual pleasure out of it, it's a type of sex.

It has the intention of reaching orgasm. That makes it sex.

Nice point Hexagon. That is why most of the time it was not sex for me... it is funny how those "straight" men "sin" for a simple orgasm.
