Oh, god, I know. :eusa_doh: I get shit like this a lot, especially the first one. If my friends ask me questions, I'm fine with it, but ignorant people who happen to know generally piss me off, and I'm a pretty patient person.

Oh, and my personal favorite: "Are you the man or the woman in the relationship?" Now, while I do enjoy taking on traditionally male roles in my marriage, that doesn't make my husband the woman. He's the one who cooks and cleans. I'm the one who goes out and works (for now). That's just our preference.

That's actually false. And I hate that people still tell others that scissoring is not a thing ("real") lesbians do. Not all lesbians are into the same things in the bedroom and contrary to popular belief: there are lesbians who do like scissoring.

I don't actually often get the "You're gay? So does that mean you like ... ?" thing. It's more "Oh, you like ... ? But I thought you were gay!"

I told my mum about the actor Aaron Paul, from Breaking Bad, who appeared on an X Box advert, and she asked me if I fancy him. She thinks I fancy every single male on TV (and I really don't fancy Aaron Paul.. at all).

Hm. In college I had at least a couple straight guys find out I was gay and then express concern that I might be into them. When I told them nope, I didn't find them attractive/they weren't my type the reaction was 'What?! Why not!?' In shocked and aggrieved tones. Apparently a lot of straight guys are convinced everyone just find them attractive.

In the really stupid dept, I had a guy on another forum I'm on say something like 'I don't understand gay guys. If they want to be women, why don't they just have the surgery already and be done with it.' Being one of the owners of the forum in question, I took it upon myself to deliver a brief but intense 'education session' on just how far off base he was and how the reality worked. He never said anything remotely like that again.

Not much, besides the whole shopping, gossip, and club stereotypes one of my female friends would always bring up. She was also pretty curious about gay sex, and was surprised to find out it didn't all just involve anal... no skin off my back, since I rather enjoy educating others and fighting misconceptions. Otherwise, most people seem to take a step back, to find out what's appropriate and what's not.

And then you have transgender people who get told, "If you wanted to date guys/girls, why didn't you just stay a girl/guy?" :bang:

Dang, calm down, it's just a joke.

First of all, I don't even know if there are any statistics on lesbian sex.

Second, it's just a good way for me to kind of relax the conversation, because it's funny.

Third, it's also a pretty good way of getting the point across that how lesbians do what in the bedroom isn't really anybody's business.

And finally, it lets people know that scissoring isn't the only way lesbians could have sex, because a lot of people's thinking goes a little something like, "Well, how do they get their... Well, I guess they would have to... Turn... Like so." And you simply don't have to turn.... like so.

Everyone who has asked me that has always been in a joking kind of manner, because that's how people like to deal with questions like that, is with a bit of humor. So my response is in that same manner. It's not like the people are genuinely asking me how it works. If they were, I might be a bit more informative. And then again, maybe not, because it's not their business how I have sex. After all, nobody asks me how I have sex with guys.
