The only two reasons I wouldn't date a gun-owning person is if the person had a history of being mentally unstable and/or hurting other people, and if the person had an array of semi-automatic and obviously illegal guns.

Things that may require guns like hunting, shooting competitions, and protection from wild animals or possible criminal intrusion are handy. I don't think it would have a big impact on our relationship.

I'm not scared of those chunks of metal that has the potential to blow my brains out, cripple me, or mortally wound me, no! ... Ok, I lied, maybe a little...

I wouldn't mind, seeing as my parents have a decent amount of guns that I've shot plenty of times before, so yes, I would totally date a gun owner... As long as he has enough sanity to keep from killing me.

I am not going to hurt you...but this quote is somewhat offensive. Plenty of people carry concealed for reasons well beyond 'paranoia' or that they've done somehting wrong. Plenty of innocent people carry concealed for great reasons. The world isn't a safe place. I am not saying we need to go to martial law but there are dangers out there

Again...somewhat offensive. This is totally anectodotal but I am going to put this out there. I will carry once Illinois fully passes the CCW laws. I was a 2W2 in the Air Force. Terrorists and criminals know my name. This isn't an ego trip nor paranoia. I've been so-called 'found' by agencies due to the nature of my past employment so yeah I will carry to be safe. Wanting to protect yourself or your family is not stupid when you consider the many many cities and locations that are quite unsafe at times.

I am a pretty die-hard Socialist and lean so far left that I almost fall off the chair but this is one of those times I agree with the right.

So again, not trying to be inflammatory and I hold no ill-will toward you but yeah I find those two quotes to be somewhat offensive. But then again, that's what free speech is, you have the right to that opinion

Yes. My brother in law owns several guns. He's nothing of the stereotype people seem to convey with gun owners. He's also the type of guy who loves animes, video games, and horror movies.

He's perfectly respectable and responsible. He treats my sister like a flipping Goddess. He goes above and beyond for his friends and family. In fact the little bit of advice he did give me on dating was, granted he didn't know I was gay "Never get mad at your girl. Even if she pisses you off, do not to express it to her in any way, shape, or form of anger. Be calm and work things out, otherwise it's just going to lead to problems." He always tries to agree and go along with my sister's wishes, he'll disagree but never do it in any way to cause issues in their relationship.

He'll work a 10 hour day shift, run errands for 2 hours, get home and STILL go out of his way to take care of their child by himself so my sister can get some extra rest when she's tired, despite working half as hard as he does.

Seriously, what girl, or guy would not want a boyfriend/husband like that?
Point is, regardless of the fact he owns guns, a bow, and multiple knives that he knows how to use: He's still 100x the man most guys could ever hope to be.

Wouldn't be a problem for me, kinda hypocritical since I am a member of my college's rifle club

Fact of the matter is, if I was an American I would probably own one, firstly because I find them interesting and secondly a lot of dangerous people in the US have them and I would just feel safer having a defense even if its never used

It amazes me how many people in the LGBT community are downright against owning firearms for self defense.

Do you all realize there are people out there who wouldn't think twice about kicking your teeth in if they knew you were gay? It happens time and time again.

When I'm out in public with a weapon (knife or handgun) people give me space. I don't care about wearing my pride shit because if someone came up and said "I hate fags" and tried to hurt me, I'd have the option of killing them to stop them from damaging my body.

Just a few months ago, a guy was killed in the alley next to a POPULAR gay bar. He walked outside and got beaten to a PULP.

This is just one of those things where I'll never understand you guys and you'll never understand me.

I'm really happy guns are outlawed in Europe, but if I had to life in the USA, I'd get a gun.

I don't want to own a gun. I don't like guns, in fact I hate them. I wouldn't mind dating someone who owned one though, such as a police (not that my views on the law would suit that of a policeman's) or someone who's into hunting.
I'd rather be shot than shoot someone.

I'd be ok with it as long as he never lets me access the guns.

I have no problem with it but I am not anti-gun. I spent a lot of time back and forth between the city and the country. Guns were common and hung on the wall above the fireplace and other places. You could easily reach them by standing on a chair but we knew better for a whipping was just not worth it.

Guns aren't the issue I have but the mentality held by far too many today. Like those idiots who drive cars but should not be allowed near one.

Well as a gun owner, it would be hypocritical not to.

I honestly don't get the fear of guns. Maybe it is because I grew in the country and was around guns. We were taught gun safety from a young age, I've owned or had access to a gun since I was in grade school. My parents didn't even lock them up, no one did back then.

As a runner and bicyclist, I find cars to be much more dangerous than guns.

No, but then again, in the UK, it's very rare to own a gun.
