He's compromised with me - we're going to London for a weekend then the rest of the family are headed to France while I'll return to Scotland on my own (probably by train). I can handle staying in the UK where I can get anywhere by train but the idea of flying at the moment scares me, flying and airports are uncomfortable enough never mind with social distancing and masks. A short but sweet trip also works better for me, long city breaks with family is a bit exhausting. The UK and France are in better shape with COVID than the US and even the Scottish leader (who has been kinda authoritarian throughout all of this) has permitted travel there. But I just don't feel comfortable with that sort of trip at the moment. Plus, I think Paris was one of the places they are going to, I was there 2 years ago and that city scares me, from the begging to aggressive salespeople (got by wrist grabbed by one near the Sacre-Coeur). I suppose I may feel a tinge of regret about not going but the silver lining is that I get the house to myself for a few days which is a vacation in itself.
