Google is practically my religion I was singing its praises to my 15 year old one day how I was just googling random crap and typed in "hipponkey" and up popped an image of a stuffed monkey sewn to a stuffed hippo, conjoined twin style. Cutest thing ever and now I want one.

Last night's episode of Jeopardy had a funny question that made my mom uncomfortable. The category was "Letter Perfect," meaning the correct answer was a letter only.

ALEX: Gilbert and Sullivan wrote of "A big big" this letter to avoid shocking Victorian ears with a four-letter word.

    CONTESTANT: "What is 'D?'"

    ALEX: "Yes. Pick again."

Yeah, the internet can be fun! I've ordered a lot of books that I probably wouldn't have discovered otherwise.

I read the article. Interesting. I had no idea people were getting their knickers in a twist over that. I'm saying "Google" in public, and it's free advertisement, even if I did use another search engine.

Holy shit! Jessica Jones got a free comic tie-in that serves as a prequel for the show, and it involves Daredevil too! Yes, the same Daredevil from the show. So, basically this comic is the first crossover in Marvel's TV-verse. Aweeeesome. Can't wait for DD, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist to get together. Defenders assemble!

I am thinking of a French Flim I saw quite a while ago, and the opening narrative, and how much it has always stayed with me:

    From Sans Soleil / Sunless

"The first image he told me about was of three children on a road in Iceland, in 1965. He said that for him it was the image of happiness and also that he had tried several times to link it to other images, but it never worked.

He wrote me: one day I'll have to put it all alone at the beginning of a film with a long piece of black leader; if they don't see happiness in the picture, at least they'll see the black."

Boooo! The tie-in was shorter than my pinky and barely had any story in it. And ad in comic form basically. I ain't even mad, just disappointed.

    Do you recommend it?

It's a bit abstract, but yes; I think Hulu has it on the Criterion/Janus films collection. Odd film, but the visuals have long stayed with me.

I can deal with abstract, so long as it's not The-Tree-of-Life-abstract.

Hmmm, heard of that, but didn't see it. This is almost more documentary in style, yet I wouldn't quite call it that. Hard to assign in a genre, the more I ponder it. But a bit weighty, I suppose, in its way. Maybe a bit like Goddard???? But I'm a big foreign film fan, with a high tolerance for subtiles, a lack of special effects, and a lot of substance, and also, experimental styles.

All things right up my alley. I've never been able to understand people's complaints with subtitles because I'm so used to them they barely even register for me, except when they ruin the delivery of a joke (but that's just bad subtitling).

Was EC down for everyone else too? What was that all about?

On the bright side, I actually got most of my work done early. So that's probably why.

Got an aquarium set up going and getting a fish tomorrow. Really been feeling dysphoric past couple of days so it's a nice distraction I guess.

I hate Todd Starnes, and it's not only for this article! Why doesn't he understand that Christianity is not the only religion of America and a public college is free to accomadate for all religions?

I have to have nasal surgery again. This will be the 2nd time. My last procedure was in 2011. I'm using a new ENT and he's supposedly one of the best Birmingham. So hopefully, it works this time.
