    Well, I injured my left hand fencing again, so I can't really do any foil for a week, probably. I'll have to focus on footwork again.

    On the other hand, that gives me time to do some research on feminism and warrior codes. I'm interested to see if despite feminist criticisms of codes like chivalry it might be possible to retain something of value from those old honor codes.

    Aw, sad to know you're part of the energy saving plan...

    I was out for lunch with some friends and we noticed a (very obvious) gay couple walking in. They were totally minding their own business, being just like every other couple out for lunch. They were laughing and having a good time.

    Then this asshole redneck and conservative guy (who was on his own) notices them and starts harassing them and calling them "fags". He was shouting crap like "You don't belong here!" "You're disgusting!" It was really awkward. At this point it seemed like almost everyone in the restaurant was just seething. I was about to say something when an old woman walked up to him and just blew up. I've never heard an old woman say that many swear words with such anger.. It was frickin amazing. Other people started getting involved and telling him to leave. The manager even came out and had to talk to him. He eventually left and it looked like he was almost crying.

    It was awesome.

    @Skydiver, that was amazing.

    But, anyway. My mom's mastectomy is tomorrow morning, technically today. I should be sleeping right now because I have to be awake at 3:00am to start getting ready because we have to leave the house at like 4:10am. It's 1:00 right now, so I'm just going to pull an all-nighter and sleep at the hospital instead. I feel really anxious and nervous but I also feel really numb. And I just feel generally horrible about everything. I'm mad that this is happening to my mom. I'm mad at myself because even though this is probably the worst day of her life, I don't know what to tell her except, "You'll be fine." Which sounds so hollow and empty for me to say. I hate that even though this is happening, I can't stop obsessing over how many calories I've eaten this weekend, but maybe that's just me trying to cope with the stress and the trauma? Life got so complicated so quick.

    The only good news I've had this weekend at all, was that Strerek (Stiles and Derek from Teen Wolf) won the Ultimate Slash fiction tournament that AfterElton.com was hosting. Ever since Fer and David from FoQ went down in flames I've needed something new to ship and Sterek is it, basically. I'm so lame for that, but I don't even care.

    Getting messages on a dating site from people who list themselves as "straight" amuses me :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

  13. I signed onto Facebook, intending to say hi to my crush after not talking to him in like a month, but found out he just sent me a message a couple hours ago. I swear I almost squealed in delight. I thought he forgot about me, but his computer died. I feel a lot better knowing that he didn't intentionally ignore my last reply. :icon_bigg

    HOLY SHIT. I was sitting in my chair and SOMETHING GRABBED AND PULLED MY HAIR. And my first instinct is to blame my teenage cousin who used to pick on me endlessly when she was alive and I was a little kid.

    ...She would SO do something like that too. Dammit Jess...
