Sounds like you're better off on the JV team then. Personally, I'd choose the team where the coach isn't a total ass versus the team where the coach is, regardless of his reasons. Even if he's not a bigot he's still a jerk, and who wants to be coached by someone who is "notoriously moody and callous"? Not me chum.

Unless you're going out for college baseball, it really doesn't matter whether you're on JV or varsity, nobody really cares about that stuff once you hit university anyway. As far as I know, nobody in college even cares about baseball except the baseball players (at least in the South, anyway).
