I have to wonder how much I fit into the stereotype. I've had a great deal of people tell me they'd 'never have guessed'. On the other hand, a close friend (before we became really close) said to me she had this huge feeling she knew I was gay because of how I dressed.

I have to wonder if people's stereotypes of what is a gay female are dependent on culture and birth origin. The majority of people who thought I was straight are Westerners. However, the close friend who pretty much guessed that I was gay was from Asia.

I never wear make up unless it's for something fancy like a wedding (though have put a little on for nights out). The last time I wore a dress was for my university graduation. I mostly wear jogging trousers, cargo-type trousers, or jeans. I love wearing shoes with a heel so have a lot of ankle/calf boots that have between a 1-3 inch heel. I wear regular t-shirts, strap tops, sometimes long-sleeve tops. Jumpers in the winter. I never have short hair. I guess I could go either way in terms of dress code?

Yeah. I'm starting to think that most lesbian women do not look fit the ellen degeneres, ellen page, megan rapinoe look. I think most of us look like normal gals. We don't stand out as very masculine.

I've watched clips of that film on YouTube, though I've heard it has a bad ending and I don't like watching films with bad/sad endings.

    Hmmm. I've seen:

    Imagine Me & You
    I Can't Think Straight
    D.E.B.S.

I can't think of any others off the top of my head. I don't think I watched too many as I'm not too keen on romance films. I prefer LGBT+ in TV programmes.

I saw D.E.B.S at a young age (9 I think). I thought the love was so beautiful even though I didn't know what being lesbian was, I thought it was beautiful.

I've seen clips of others and there's a lot on Netflix but I think a lot of them just never seem to have a good ending.

I think I saw it about maybe 8-10 years ago. I really liked how Lucy was eventually accepted after it was realised she was serious about Amy, and Amy of Lucy. The whole idea of acceptance no matter what kind of person you are was a really wonderful thing.

    Alright. This is sort of a poll I wanted to make about a variety of stereotypical subjects I think touch lesbian women in particular so here it is;

Are lesbians more clingy: Yes or No
Have you seen the L word (and did you like it):
Have you seen Orange is the New Black (and did you like it):
    Do you have short hair:
Did you dye your hair an unnatural color (blue, green, purple)?:
Did you ever ride on a motorcycle?:

    My answers:
    1) Don't know, never dated.
    2) No
3)Yes and didn't like it that much
    4)Yes
    5)No
    6) I really want to, but no.

Oh man, I remember watching But I'm a Cheerleader in college and feeling so frustrated because I identified with the main character so much, but I was so deep in the closet then that there was no way I could even see WHY i was frustrated. I kept saying of course she doesn't like french kissing that dude, french kissing is gross (I've only kissed men so far, newly accepting my sexuality and moving towards divorcing my straight husband). Anyways, that movie, I should re-watch it with newfound eyes. I wasn't a cheerleader but an artist so that was my excuse for watching women... I'm an artist of course I need to see how boobs move. I'm an artist of course I love the beauty of the female form.

I recommend She-Ra, it's a kids show, cartoon, but it really helped me grieve my past and accept myself. I watch a lot of anime and I follow the creators of She-Ra (the lead writer met her wife through the show and they had this beautiful wedding, which made me so jealous and also made me realize, dang, I'm gay).

I totally need to watch the LWord, I've heard several people recommend it.

I'm more of a books person, so if you want some good lesbian novels (mostly YA, and a lot fantasy) I can recommend some I've read recently. I need to get my copy of the Lesbian Handbook, LOL! But seriously, any good book recommendations I'm open to those too.

    Oh, fun...
    My answers:
    1. I am not clingy, but I haven't officially been with a woman so I don't know if that would change my behavior
    2. Haven't seen, but need to
    3. Haven't seen.
    4. I cut my hair every couple years to donate it. Currently it's long and I need to get it cut soon, but pandemic is causing problems
    5. Natural hair whole life, looking forward to rocking the sexy silver someday
    6. I took a motorcycle course years ago and have a motorcycle endorsement on my license, but never owned one nor do I plan to now that I'm a mom

The fact that you donate your hair constantly makes you a favorite in my book.
It is nice to meet somebody who is confidant in the idea of becoming a silver fox. My mom and too many in society fail to embrace their body and natural look.
Maybe when your child is older you guys can ride together (but slowly and safely).

The most beautiful lesbian book I ever read was Bodies of Water by T. Greenwood. I read it multiple times. Like you the narrator is a closeted lesbian who married a man and had 2 kids in the 1960s. It isn't until she falls in love with another housewife, that she finally opens up that door that so many of us have closed.

I'm sorry your marriage ended like this. There are many in the LGBT Later in Life section that have gone through similar situations.
