I give up smoking, which is easy because I don't.

Lent should be about giving up things that are "poisoning" your soul, or things you enjoy... too much. Chocolate, smoking, alcohol, sex, swearing and other stuff would be good options.

Too bad I'm not religious. Well, I don't think Lent serves its purpose anyway.

When I was 18, I gave up giving up things for Lent. And I liked doing it so much I made it permanent.

Meat. Did it last year, and it really forced me to start eating healthier. And I plan on becoming a vegetarian when I go to college in the fall, so it's good... practice, I guess?

I'm also trying to be more religious. I've completely given up religion recently because of the views on homosexuality... but I'm going to start trying to look past it and using it for the positive things in life. I mean really... why not?

Back when I used to be religious I gave up candy one year. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Now that I'm an atheist I'm not giving up anything.

I LOVE Lent! That sounds weird but I really enjoy it because it is so good for me. I always give up something(s) which kills me to give up and it is always so good for me.

Every year I give up eating meat (except Sundays and extenuating circumstances) and limit my alcohol and tobacco intake. This year in particular, I am going to cut myself off from using the Internet for entertainment purposes, and start reading again. For some reason I went from reading 100+ pages a day for leisure, to spending 4-8 hours online and not even opening a book. GROSS! So last night, I put on some classical music and sat down with my favorite sci-fi author (Asimov) and had a great read.

I wonder if I can do anything else. Hmm...the more sacrifice the better, I say!

Everyone have a very productive and selfless Lent!

Although im not really religious(im undecided but leaning towards being agnostic), im just gonna try to be more giving and nicer and an overall better person to others.

Cussing. I cuss a lot, so it's hard, but it's something I should do.

I'm catholic but I participate in Lent for my own reasons. It's a good time of the year for me to prove to myself I can do something  I've pretty much given up.....well everything

The main thing is anything carbonated....well almost. I'm refraining from soda as much as possible and so far I've been successful. I've also decided to give up sweets, but I've had chocolate twice. haha....it was on fruit though so not so bad. I suppose
