I was talking with my mother about it and she put it in a rather wonderful way. "Banning pot just means people go to the drug dealers which gets them tons of money and people wasting ten times the amount of money they'd be wasting if it were legal."

Frankly I like this because if you think about it, drug dealers dealing marijuana can charge whatever they want because it's illegal. Now if it's legal two things happen: 1. the drug dealers lose their jobs, and 2. You can get it for cheaper than dealers are selling it for.

Let say I have two weed smokers in class. Most disruptive ever! Just today one went to the wrong place. The other didn't turn up. Pissed off my tutor and disrupted the class as he had to go and report them. Also they have smoked so much they walk about like empty shells and what we do in class doesn't help at all its highly dangerous if you aren't fully alert. Legalise it and there will be more people like this. People trying it getting used to it then finding out they they have gotten paranoia off it and then putting a bigger strain on the over stretched NHS! Cigarettes and alcohol do enough of that atm. Also this thing about making them both illegal. If they did there would be riots in the streets. Alcohol is over 1000 years old, tobacco not as much. Its part of the heritage of the country really, Alcohol. Things are already bad enough never about adding more.

Just wanted to point that line out. In Iran it's part of the heritage of the country to stone (no pun intended? xD) women for being adulterous. Just because it's commonly accepted doesn't mean it's good. Especially when alcohol is labeled 'the most dangerous drug to society'.

Without question NO. Because your current fiscal mess (and the word mess is being kind) is due to your own reckless irresponsible behavior. We already have to pay for Congress, the American Taxpayer shouldn't have to pay for the incompetence of your legislature as well.

And California taxpayer's money is going into other states like Alabama, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Alaska; states that we don't give two shits about. Actually most of the blue states get less money back than they give, so maybe you guys should be a little less reliant on federal funding?

I've been saying that for years. We finally agree on something. Although I would hate to lose Orange Country though. Maybe we could keep that, and then y'all could go do your own thing....and who ever does Gavin Newsom's hair...we'd want to keep him or her too.

I love California haters. Jealousy isn't cute guys. The sad truth is is that the USA can't afford to lose California. That's why if a movement ever started you guys would try to shut it down as fast as possible.

Yes of course it is...but it's not going as a bailout for our inability to manage our own finances. Every state, depending on what department is allocated certain federal dollars based on a specific funding formula established by the Federal Government. Like with the DOT, some states are donor states, and some are not, it is calculated based on the number of miles in your US Highway system. Education dollars are calculated based on varying factors such as the number of Title-1 Schools, industrial tax bases and different poverty levels. Should you take issue with that, then I suggest you contact your Member of Congress or either of your Senators, they certainly have had the clout and been in the position to make the move to alter those formulas to better benefit your state over the past couple of years.

I never said I hated California...I think it is a beautiful state. I simply find your entire political structure bizarre. i mean, you guys even re-elected a dead person to the legislature on Nov. 2nd....so you can understand why some of us look at the Golden Coast and simply shake our heads and simply ask "What the fuck are those people doing out there?"

Maybe not....but at least the rest of us can realize we can't afford SOMETHING. I wish the same could be said for your particular region. But, keep on doing what you are doing. If you are lucky, maybe the unfunded liability in your pension system will remain under $700 Billion over the next decade...I have the utmost confidence that former Governor--Governor--Elect Brown (I guess that's his proper title right now) will work wonders in streamlining California's struggling budget problems.

Use of the opium poppy is reported to have started in Neolithic settlements from about 4200 BCE, even older than alcohol. I could argue that really, it's part of the heritage of the Middle East, India, Asia and parts of Europe and North Africa since all of them used it throughout history. By your strain of logic, morphine should become over the counter because it's so ingrained as part of some countries' heritage. But very few of us would argue that cause the fact is morphine is still immensely dangerous when not restricted.
