I rate this 8/10. It's one of my goto movies when nothing else is on

Frankie & Alice, starring Halle Berry.

I rate it 9/10. It's an excellent psychological drama and based on a true story.

A bunch since I last replied here.

Alien: Yup. For the first time too. It holds up! 7/10 How in the world the same Ridley Scott that was in charge of this, 33 years later, managed to make an inferior prequel despite having a bigger budget, more experience, final cut privilege and a star-studded cast boggles my mind. What the fuck Ridley? (Still love ya but seriously, wtf?).

Resolution: Very meta. One of those "horror" movies that sucks at being scary but still manages to be a great movie on it's own right. The relationship between the two leads is everything; the spontaneity of their dialogues and just the chemistry between the actors is perfect on every scene they are together. Even if I never felt they were in real danger (until the last scene...) they still got me to care about them and the possible repercussions the story could have in their relationship was more than enough as far as stakes go. Loved the air of mystery throughout the whole flick. 7/10

All Cheerleaders Die: Loved the premise, hated the execution. The CGI was so unforgivably awful I really wished they had just made do with good ol' practical effects. CGI is one if those things that you either do perfectly or you just don't do at all, because nothing yanks me out of the movie more effectively than shoddy CGI (You'll never have this problem with corn syrup). And the special effects are just one in a long list of problems this movie has.

The script was a complete disaster. The sad part? I knew what they were going for, but good intentions are worthless if they don't pan out in good results. Subversion is a pretty tough balancing act to achieve, it demands a lot of finesse from the filmakers to succesfully employ tired tropes while rising above them at the same time; tried as it might to make a statement of the contrary, All Cheerleaders Die falls right in line with the same cliches it was trying to subvert, and the sense of failure only enhances all the negative aspects of the film. *Sighs* Such a disappointment that they never get any mileage out of that premise. 4/10

Inland Empire: No. Just no. Fuck this piece of shit and anyone that tries to dupe me into buying the "is a higher form of artistic statement that is not meant to be understood! (and therein lies is beauty!)" bullshit argument. This is shit. Way to throw away 2 hours of my life (the movie is actually 3 hours long but I would be damned if I were to sit through one more hour of that pompous crap, I cut my loses). 2/10

    Love is Strange. 8/10

Great ending, kind of sad and kind of happy depending on how you look at it. Amazing soundtrack and the story was nice.
