I'm currently reading Brian Friel's "Translations". It's excellent, a classic of post-colonial drama.

Before that, my textbook on the politics of development. Friedrich List is, like, tresamaze.

Just got done reading a few. On the Shoulders of Giants by Stephen Hawking, The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan, A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin, and Lord of the Flies by William Golding.

I just finished reading the Plague by Camus and Black Like Me by Griffin. They were both pretty decent. I'm a huge fan of Camus and I'm slowly but surely getting through everything he ever wrote.

You, my friend, have amazing taste in books. Amazing. Jordan and GRRM are just <33333. But Wheel of Time gets a bit hard to get through, let me warn you.

Just The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. It is like, god in a book. Seriously, read it if you like fantasy.

My grandmother passed away last month, and I have been drawn to books dealing with loss and grieving. I just finished reading The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. The book is about the death of her late husband John, who dies at the table while eating dinner.

"Life changes fast. Life changes in the instant. You sit down to dinner and life as you know it ends. "

The book is written in a very clinical, almost aloof fashion. She quotes a lot of medical and research studies, but I think something about it appeals to our inner nature of making sense out of another person's death. Everyone has to go through these processes in order to let go.

I found this book while browing through Amazon for hours. If you're a History nerd like me, you'll love it. It tells the real life of real people in the Victorian era. It's called The Victorian House: Life from Childbirth to Deathbed.

It tells you what people did in what part of the house. It start from the bedroom, to the nursery, kitchen etc. I loved it! It's filled with information and I had a blast reading about what people in books about organizing a household told housewifes to do and not to do.

The Blithesdale Romance. Unfortunately, that was a few months ago [and god knows when the last one I finished before that was.]

Just finnished 1984 by George Orwell. One of the best books I've ever read and so depressing. Terrifying too. My teacher lent me A tree grows in Brooklyn. It was named one of the books of the century so it must be good. After that I think I'll take another crack at The Divine Comedy. Only read Inferno so I'm gonna try and finnish the whole thing.

Closing on the end of a book called "It Looked Good on Paper", a recounting of several rather big failures in the world of manufacturing, advertising, and what not. It's pretty good, but I feel like it could've been better. Once I'm done, I'll go back to my Cleopatra biography.
