I have a B.A. in photography and a B.A. in history. I worked with the National Park Service after college and later was a curator in a museum, but now I work in finance.

It was a big shift and one that I don't particularly enjoy, but when you move and need a job you do what you have to do!

Went to school for communication and education. I work in the manufacturing sector presently. Would love to go back to school for my Master's but kind of a pipe dream.

My degree is in journalism. Worked at a CBS TV-news affiliate for many years, dream to be an anchor! (But you guys know me--wallflower, 'frightened'-ugh- MAYBE the dream could have become a reality if not for THAT holding me back--haha). Anyway, ended up getting into social work.

Have been a mental health/substance abuse counselor and supervisor for many years.

Agree on this! Years ago I had spinal fusion surgery (no picnic there)...during a nursing strike!

So there was this skeleton crew of 'replacement' nurses from who knows where, it was all very sketchy. Seemed like there were like three of these nurses for a whole floor of patients. It was bad, no nurses around ever! And you guys are SO needed! Doctors would pop in for a hot second and that was that. No one around to take care of anything medical, and hey, in a hospital EVERYTHING is medical...

So big shout out to all the nurses out there!:thumbsup::smiley:

Yes. Nurses are great! Ok but I'm a writer Anyway ... You can totally do the meet up thing, now I want to find a random group in my area so I can be weird with people at the gay bar I don't want to take all my friends to... Vs weird and super awkward. I'm not gonna meet you there lol but I'm pretty sure I am only about 4 hours from NYC... Ish ... For sure though... but no... You've got this
Sometimes I feel like a weird gay poser too (and ok I'm still married to my husband and a lot of people seem to not know how gay I am...I think my brother is still annoyed I married a guy though... He gives me this look like what are you doing girl... We don't see each other much not probably because he knows I'm really just a straight poser ) but like what even is that... If you're gay you're gay and anyone who wants to qualify that is overthinking it. I get what you're saying though about feeling weird because you haven't been with a woman. I haven't been in a relationship with a woman though knowing I was gay I've had experiences on both sides... But trust me you know what you're doing... It's fine. Don't play up that you haven't been in that situation unless you're having a heart to heart, just enjoy yourself and you are obligated to do nothing. If it's weird... Have a drink and leave and try again another time. You can take a book too and read if you feel too weird, they'll just think you're the kind of person who does that and then can come over if they want but you're good where you are... Odd but takes the pressure to interact out if you decide you aren't into it. Ok maybe I'm a little antisocial...

Here's something to think about. If you want to find love then you have to take a risk. And to take that risk, you have to put yourself out there. Love doesn't come knocking. And most of the time it shows up when we least expect it. And yes sometimes it doesn't work out. And we all know that. Matters of the heart are tricky. And hopefully we all find what we are looking for. Just some food for thought.

    Damn, y'all have been busy...

@NeonSocks 5'2" isn't a normal height. I'm pretty damned petite. Taller women intimidate me, but I'm very attracted to them.

I have a bachelors in communications and a masters in public policy. I'm a consultant for an software development company that specializes in modernizing govt systems. I manage the end user training and help systems part of the projects I'm assigned to.

I actually got another tattoo today. Just an outline of my state (Virginia) on my shoulder. I dig it.

I have a degree in Security Management and am working on one in business management. I must say that the latter is so boring. I work in a office as an industrial security aadministrator (mostly sitting in a office doing lots of paperwork ).

Rjay you should totally go on Friday and take L with you to make sure you actually turn up. I'm sure L will drag lovely ladies over to talk with you.

It's been 7 years since my last tattoo....way too long.

I was studying a couple of ologys at uni but dropped out.

If i ever grow up (I'm in my 40s) i want to be a novelist

Have loved this tangent of careers-we all have taken such different paths! And yet here we are, all of us ending up in the same place !

Good idea! What is going on with the ladies in the neighborhood?

PS: 5'6". And always wear shoes with at least 2" heels. (Though now I have THE BUNION-ugh! However, I am refusing to let this ruin my choice in footwear; I'll keep hobbling along as long as I can!:boot::persevere:)

Haha, don't be intimidated! Most of us are just trying to make sure we 1) have clothes that are long enough and 2) don't look like gangly fools when we walk.

    Thank you kindly!

So, V is in town, as you know. I saw her on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Might see her today. She seems to be very reticent to get into her own drama. She frankly avoids my questions about how she is doing and how the divorce is going. She's all about wanting to talk about my teaching, my practicing, what's generally going on with me. And she always gives me those great kisses and hugs. Whatever, man... I go all googly and weak in the knees, but she confuses me, and I'm quite sure there is no chance for romance there. If she initiates alone time again (movies, walk in the park, etc.) I will surely tell her *something* about how I have felt about her.

And nothing new with L since she told me all about her antics picking up a guy in a bar while on a business trip. She is naughty. And clearly so so so straight. HA!

I will spend all week considering the possibility of going out with these late-in-lifers on Friday. And then probably not go. But I may surprise everyone including myself. We'll see. I might email the organizer and introduce myself and tell her I'm nervous.

I can't believe I missed out on all this fun. My birthday ended up being surprisingly awesome and I had 3 surprise celebrations form different friends/fam so I wasn't able to come online.

@RJay your thread has been completely highjacked hahah

I think you should go on Friday!! My motto in life lately is "i don't want to go, but I will force myself to go". That has actually led to making really wonderful friends and trying things I never thought I would. Go for it!!!!

Trying to catch up on all these pages! So interesting to learn more about everyone. Someone mentioned we come in all kinds, shapes, sizes etc. Totally true!

    Some facts about me!
-I would really enjoy Lesbian Zumba. Sounds like my idea of fun!!!
    -I'm 5'3
-I went to school for communications and marketing, grad school for market research and consumer behavior. I worked in fashion and beauty marketing for luxury brands for about 6 years and recently moved to work in marketing for luxury senior living
-I like women a little taller than me, because I wear heels ALL THE TIME.
