How many times have you been in love?

I always thought I was with the few girlfriends I had until I wasn't anymore. I think my only real love was a gay guy who I worked with and he never even knew because I didn't even know... I'm still not over it.

 

Twice.

I was -stupid- and I fell in love with my best friend in high school. I was in grade 11 and she was in grade 10. We decided to start dating, but to keep it a secret. It was a small town. We didn't want to be ostracized. We were together for four months. She cheated on me several times, ending with a guy that was a good friend of both of ours. She broke up with me when I found out about the cheating. I was heartbroken. They have been married for two years now.

The second time was with my most recent ex. We broke up just last month. We were together for 4 1/2 years. The love was real, and so strong and amazing for a long time, but I guess.. after a while it wasn't enough. We brought out the worst in each other most of the time, so we decided to end it. I still love her, but I'm happier now I think.

 

I've stumbled upon the thing twice so far. I've only ever fallen in love with people that have loved me back. So...2 relationships, 2 loves. First one was a passionate, firey love like you're told about in fairy tales. It was bad. Second one was/is a stable, rational love that will end for stable, rational reasons. I like the second one better, that fairy tale passionate romance crap is scary.

In actual love? Once. It felt pretty nice, but sadly the relationship fell through quick.

Honestly though, I be never actually been in love. I've had a few crushes, but I've never acted on them since I was (and partially still am) in the closet.

 

Never...although I think that may be changing with this particularly person...

 

Twice, I guess. I had a crush on a gay friend of mine, for a really long time. The person I'm in love with now, I consider to be my true love (if you believe in that sort of thing). When I compare my feelings, I question if I ever really loved my friend like that.

 

Truly? Only once and did I truly love her. Our break up was so unexpected and odd. It was all "I love you, I love you, I love you" and then one day she said she and I needed to break up. The odd thing was that she asked me out and I basically did everything for her. At the time I was working long hours at a bottle depot that was both physically and mentally demanding. Every day after work, she would ask me to come over and I would. I was tired, sore and all I wanted to do was sleep but I came over because I wanted to see her.

When we broke up, we stayed friends and I started dating someone else. I felt like it was set up because the way thing happened really blew me away. The girl I had been seeing became friends with my ex, which didn't bother me at all, I just found it a little awkward. A few days after that, she sent me a text that was supposed to be for someone else. It was a screen cap of a conversation that we had the night before on FB and she said something along the lines of "This is what he said to me last night" I found out that she was talking to my ex and that they had been sharing information about me over the couple of days I was with her. A little later, I received a text from my ex saying that they where now in a relationship together and that they couldn't be pulled apart. I was crushed to say the least.

Anyway, my ex texted me a few weeks later apologizing yada yada ya, and I didn't buy any of her crap, nor did I rebuild the bridge between us that I burned. Needless to say, because of this I have a hard time letting anyone else in and I've dated one person since which happened.. I believe 2 years ago now but no one else.
