Homophobic Irish Comercial

    The whole argument is that people only get married so they can have kids. Only my late great uncle got married in a catholic church when he was about 80 and my auntie is married despite never wanting kids. If you're going to take the position that marriage is for procreation only then there's a whole load of people despite gay couples who should be disqualified.

    Besides, their argument relies on people watching it agreeing with their pretty narrow, likely catholic view that marriage is primarily for making babies which I'm pretty sure most people don't agree with. Certainly not my auntie or great uncle anyway.

    This is disgusting. I hate the way they try and sugar-coat it so it sounds 'reasonable' too. At the end of the day its anti-gay propaganda. Sometimes it really feels like the world is moving backwards instead of forwards

    I remember when I was little, my dad asked if I knew the difference between girls and boys. He meant the parts, but I said something like "Girls are girls and boys are boys?" I don't think I really went for the whole 'different' thing.

    It never even managed to explain HOW gay people getting married ruins straight marriage. Because it can't. Gay people don't destroy marriage, they make it more fun.

    I love how at the very beginning of the commercial it drops one of Maggie Gallagher's lines: it's not discrimination to treat different things differently. Um, actually, that's the exact definition of discrimination. Sooo....you know. It gets shot down right out of the gate. I mean, compared to a lot of anti-gay commercials I've seen, this is pretty tame. Everything they said were excellent reasons to ban divorce, not a good reason to prohibit same-sex couples from marrying.

    This commercial offends me on so many levels. I thought it was funny though that the definition of discrimination that they put up around 40 seconds does make what they are arguing discrimination
