My ex used to make fun of the music I listen to. I listen to most anything, but tend to listen to the top 100 type of pop/alternative/rock stuff. He used to like classic rock. And that's IT.

I used to hate rap and hip hop, but I'm a fan of it now. I mainly listen to newer artists such as Passenger, Lorde, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, etc.

I don't care a lot about the language of the song If it touched my feelings .

boys in my country like both girl and boy music and girls are the same .

As a femme gay I prefer girl music  , I don't like boy music they don't touch me at all , I listen just to 2 or 3 songs to be honest .

Yeah. I don't listen to much pop music, and people do not like this fact.

I listen to a lot of different kinds of music, so pretty much everyone I know has at one time or another critiqued at least one artist in my library. I don't really mind though.

I think some people are intimidated by my interest in classical music, which often has the reputation of sounding elitist. I am fairly ignorant of popular music except for the most famous artists. Most people just respect it, especially when I say I played in band and orchestra. In that case, they probably understand that as a musician, I have a good idea on what I'm talking about.

One time, a girl said that she thought classical music sounded boring, and it was hard getting words to defend it because in reality it sounds boring for those who don't have enough experience listening carefully to it. In the back of my mind, I just remember that I'm listening to music that was made hundreds of years before, and the only reason it keeps getting played is because people from every generation have valued it.

I like allot of different genres, but a good portion of what I like is, well girly music. Taylor swift, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Jayme Dee, ect. I get allot of shit for it because all of my friends (as well as almost every teenager where I live) like Metal. I like some Metal but I'm not obsessed with it. And if you listen to the type of music I do you are basically considered a "prep" where I live. So yeah, I've been ridiculed for my music. I really could care less though. If someone is dumb enough to not want to be friends with you because you have different music taste, then they're not really worth having in your life anyway.

Yes. Surprisingly, I get more snickers and teasing for listening to classical music than I do for Korean pop. And I'm just like: "If it weren't for classical music, the 'mainstream' music you listen to today literally wouldn't exist." >_> My cousins especially, who listen to rap music, often mock my passion of classical music and automatically write it off as "boring, old White people music."

For years I was afraid to listen to classical because my family kept mocking it. But I listen to everything with a melody so other genres were prone to be attacked.

Being an upper middle class white person people are shocked I listen to Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Tyga, Drake, YG and other rap and hip hop.

I grew up listening to Mc Hammer and Dr Dre and snoop and such.

I've had people say, what? You don't listen to country or classical?

Not like burn them at the stake but more like "are you serious"?

I listen classical music (I LOVE Chopin and Mozart) and pop music.

My favourite singers are Bastille, One Republic, Ola, Fun, James Morrison, Macklemore, Negrita, Marco Mengoni, Mika, John Newman...

When I say "Mika", some italian people make fun of his music (in Italy falsetto is despised, and I don't know why ) but I don't care about this, as Dante Alighieri said: "Non ti curar di loro, ma guarda e passa".

In fact, fuck off them!

Nope, but that is because my music taste is pretty much unknown to others in general.

Well, not really. People have, however, said that I'm insane for having so many songs.
I'll listen to almost anything as long as it's good.
I really like rap and techno.
Out of all genres, I dislike pop the most. Pop and top 100 types of songs feel repetitive.

My tastes are too weird for normal and too normal for weird.
I guess I wouldn't feel comfortable telling alot of people what I like, people are mean. :frowning2:

I feel sorry for people who think What Makes You Beautiful isn't a great pop song.

Not really though to the original question. Sometimes people look down on my hip hop or my kiss fm style pop, because it's not real music or something apparently. Mostly people don't criticise my music though, indie and alternative rock don't seem to get much of a hard time from people.

ya when i was a teenage i liked the group Expose and a guy used to work with told me that i was the only guy that liked that music

Recently another co-worker asked why i like Sheryl Crow because she wasnt good looking. Duh, like i listen to music based on what the artisit looks like.

So now basically, i just keep my musical tastes private
