    No far from it hehe :grin: you should have use hanbun it's a better word half and you use nihon which means Japan and not japanese you gotta put Jin Nihonjin japanese person

    Well I'd say make sure you have a strong background in both languages and colloquialisms of those languages, textbook and formal vocabulary doesn't cut it. A college education doesn't hurt. People like to see a piece of paper.

    I'm not too good with colloquialisms but i did go to a language school but i'll have to work on that

    I have 6 years of Spanish but I've never had a chance to practice it casually. Real world application and practice is invaluable.

    I'll find some one to talk with over the phone because i would really love to work speaking Japanese or reading it for a living

    Just a thought but what would you think about becoming an English as a Second Language teacher and teach English in Japan? I think that an ESL teaching certification could compliment your current education and/or goals, and would also broaden some of your options down the road.

    A couple of my co-workers have taught English in Japan, and have found it to be a really great experience. One of them actually ended up living there for a few years.

    Here's a piece of advice that's more concrete. Just like sexuality and gender, it's never too late to change careers. I was unhappy in research and grad school and left. Now I'm in a much better place in terms of my career path, I enjoy what I do.

    I was thinking of doing that but i don't have the money to move there yet .
