Gaming, ever played opposite gender?

Used to play female characters if I thought the guys looked stupid (and before I realized shit, so all my old Pokemon games, for instance, I played with a female handle). Moreso playing guy characters now but if the female's better, I'll consider her.

Honestly, as a kid, I didn't gravitate towards any particular gender. I preferred animals and crap. So I'd play Pikachu and Yoshi on Smash Bros (and am now an infamous spammer).

Nope. I'll only choose a female character 1% of the time; and usually that's just for laughs. Starting at a young age I'd always choose a male character. I didn't know anything at the time, I just did what came natural to me. That and at a younger age I always thought the guys were cooler than the girls, so that played into it some I think.

All the time! Pokemon Crystal is by far my favorite Pokemon for obvious reasons.

I play as the male character in Pokemon games, although I always choose Zelda in SSBB, and play as Femshep in Mass Effect.

Dunno, only really care about character design and specs/advantages rather than the gender I'm playing as.

Oh man. I hope Sheik's in the new SSB. Because the best part of playing Zelda is shifting and crying out "FTM POWER!!"

In games that have multiple save files and allow you to choose your character's gender (like Fable), I always create one file where my character is male and one file where my character is female. If the game doesn't allow you to have multiple save files, I always use male characters. In games like Super Smash Bros, I just use whoever I like the best and I don't take gender into account when choosing who to play as.

I used to play as mostly female characters, but in high school, I started to play as mostly as male. So, from then on, I've played as mostly male characters.

I usually play as female and as myself, role-playing is not really my thing. I had one game account though that I played for a short period of time where I made a male character. Mainly because I thought male outfits looked cooler compared to trashy female outfits that seems to be a trend in mmos nowadays. But even with female character random people assume I'm a guy a lot of the time and call me bro lol. I used to correct them, but now I don't bother. It doesn't matter.

Yes, when I played Dragon age origins, I created a female Mage character. I kept flirting with Alistaire throughout the game.

Mortal Kombat - readily pick Sonya
Diablo games - female magic users or female rangers and female followers
MvC series - mostly male Marvel superheroes
Harvest Moon - Always male-especially in Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town, I'm so into the shop owner's daughter, I just have to marry her. LOL
Male in MMORPGs but have a separate female account to get free items.

I usually play characters which do not have a gender or are gender-neutral.
However, I enjoy playing distinct male and female characters as well.

The guy I was messing with was pretty cute in RL. If he hadn't been so mad at me and so str8 I might have asked him for a date. Glad he didn't punch me in the nose.

Not in RPG games which I prefer to be a guy.

In online games I might play female archer or stuff like that, for diversity :O

I've chatted before with people online and had them think I was a girl =p

Yep, in Saints Row 2 and 3 (4's a waste of money, sorry guys, as is 3 if you've played 2 unless you thought 2 was boring), and GTA IV multiplayer, but this was so I could fap to them afterwards at times.

You can create androgynous, "gay" and "trans" characters in Saints Row 2, but only as long as you're ho-ing for the latter two.

I know this sounds a BIT sexist, but any Mage or Magic using characters I play are 95% female most of the time, and any combat-focused character is male normally.
