Yes, they've made fun of the minority before. This was different. You'd have to watch the episode to understand.

Yeah they did kind of go overboard with the 'pedophilia' bit.

Now as for what I'm talking about in reference to 'homophobia'

Listen carefully in the scene where Peter proposes to Chris. Listen to everything he says, he makes at least two subtle swipes at Gay Marriage.

Wow they took homophobic people's fears of what would happen if gay marriage was allowed and put it in the show . I agree they ran it through the mud because I kept hear the whole time this is not normal and mixing it up with pedophilia . I'm not gonna watch this show anymore I think they went too far on this one

Well that sucks, I actually thought Family Guy had a bit of clever commentary here and there. Might as well be Robot Chicken at this point.

no you weren't the only one I was shocked , i was like why have peter marry Chris and I remembered that guy who said if gays are allowed to get married fathers will marry their sons and I was thinking can't they see they just messed up and are sending the wrong message with this episode because I know some homophobes that will see that and be like Ya see ! I told you it was gonna happen . God knows some people are just not very bright .

Did you hear the things peter casually slides into the conversation when he's proposing.

I don't remember word for word how it went, but I'll paraphrase

"I thought boys were supposed to marry girls. I thought that was normal" - Chris

"Well boys marrying girls was normal for all of human history except the last 5 months" - Peter

^ That statement...I know this isn't word for word, but I think you get the concept of what was being said here.

I don't get the chance to watch Family Guy often, but I usually think it's pretty entertaining/funny. It's weird because I'm always getting offended, but this show insults everyone, so I guess it doesn't register as anything real.

However, I always get the impression that it's obviously wrong from these shows. (I like The Simpsons too, Lady Gaga even made an appearance!) I don't know how to explain what I mean right now, but like sarcasm. It's clear they're not really in favor of such terrible things. So you're saying this episode is different? That really sucks man, I might read the Wikipedia page at least. Sad to hear they decided to do that. :frowning2:

It's the tone that changed completely.

Usually even when they were doing those jokes you could tell by the tone of the show that it was 'in good fun' this one seemed like it was written by the people who do the 'don't let gay's marry' political ads >.>

Even when they made fun of homophobes and republicans the show never really felt like it 'meant any harm'

This one felt like 'yes, they definitely meant harm. Gay marriage is bad'

That's sad. I see the Wikipedia page doesn't say much, other than it got a bad rating.
Now I'm interested in what it said, haha. Maybe that's why they did it, to get their views up again.

That was the sentence where I stopped all of the sudden and was like 'Did it...did I hear that right' and after that I was closely watching every moment and sure enough they made a few more after that. >.>
