    LOL! No. I get ya.

But,I DO love a good hike in the desert - I'm not a rock climber, though.

So, to continue the conversation, where I was going was to say that, unless there is actual, emotional investment in the relationship, it ends up becoming meaningless sex. In effect, just mutual masturbation - and that actually applies to both same-sex and opposite-sex interactions, IMO.

I’m in my first lesbian relationship so I’m fairly inexperienced, but top and bottom don’t seem to really apply to women in quite the same way. From what I’ve read there’s sometimes a giver/receiver dynamic so the giver could be considered the top and receiver the bottom. Before having sex, my girlfriend and I thought we were both more receivers (sometimes called pillow princesses). As it turned out we both enjoy both giving and receiving (sometimes called switch). Communication about your desires, limits and needs is essential, but you’ll figure it out once you have sex. There don’t need to be rules and set positions.

There is sure a lot to learn as I found out. Coming from a straight marriage I had no idea about tops/bottoms and rimming oh and water sports. But I'm now educated and clued up. I've topped but also want to be topped! Rimming was actually really enjoyable. I tend to look for versatile guys who are open to everything or as I found it dosent always work out well.
I stupidly thought you like someone and it falls into place but not necessarily.
Some guys like to be the bitch? as I discovered too. So much more to this than I first thought.

Although in my limited experience of lesbian relationships people seem to be more concerned with and maybe at times even hung up on the labels "butch" and "femme" and whether they refer to how a woman presents herself physically or her behaviour or both.

I agree. I thought that I would like a ""giver" role, but now that I have experienced f2f sex I know I enjoy a variety so if I had to put a label on it I would say "switch". I suspect it varies quite a bit depending on the particular relationship dynamics and that maybe people go through phases of preferring this or that.
