General News Boston bombing: one suspect dead, one on run

Just heard they've got him alive, a medic is on the scene...

 

cnn and msnbc are both reporting that they do have him in custody. I was hoping they got him alive; I want to know why they were little fucking shitheads!

 

Yep, taken away in a squad car.


And now a slow wait for answers...

 

They got him. He's on the way to the hospital now.

 

but at least we dont have to suffer the long, agonizing waits. The dynamic is now going to be different. the good thing is that I have a university fundraiser to go to tonight, so I have a distraction.

also, it should be noted that the brother talked before he died, so they might release info on that sooner now that it is over.

 

The older brother talked just before he died, or talked to the FBI back in 2011?

Pretty sure he was gunned down after he killed the MIT officer...


Sounds like the older one may have been radicalized by terrorists in Chechnya, btw, regarding their not being the "type" to do this. Or at least that's the impression you get listening to the stream of information on the news.


Who knows about the younger brother; guess we'll find out eventually.

 

I know I'm very right wing, but I would have shot him on sight. But I guess that way it would be harder to find the motive. He'll be executed in a matter of years anyway.

 

Yea....here its more of a matter of decades.


My guess is that the older brother radicalized and convinced his younger brother that his world view was the right one.

 

The fact that one of them went to the gym days after the bombings tells me the bombers really didn't think this one through.

 

Massachusetts does not have the death penalty, so unless this goes Federal, there will not be an execution at all.

 

Since it was labeled as a terrorist act, I think that it is under federal jurisdiction. Several news stations I was watching also hinted to it being in federal hands now.

 

They caught the second suspect about an hour ago, I believe. There's a press conference on CNN right now!

 

It seems the FBI and NSA were all over this, so it probably will go Federal. In that case, the death penalty could be used, though I'm not sure it will.

 

He might get a plea for life in federal prison if he gives enough info.

 

They have apparently invoked a "public safety exception" and not read him his Miranda Rights, so they may well look to find answers "legally" without even looking to give him a trial... Ugh.


Here's to hoping they don't take that route...

 

From what I heard, they can only use the public safety exception to ask questions about any possible threats to the public welfare (i.e. "Are there anymore bombs?")

I just hope nobody goes crazy and kills him before we get all the answers as to why this happened.

 

These people are obviously guilty. They are terrorists. One of them is dead, the other one is captured, and this is a good thing for our Country. This has been a difficult week, and now that this is over, we can move on. Hate me if you will for waiving my American flag, but I'm gonna do it anyway.

 

I know most people just want to move on with their lives, but I like to know why people do things like this, especially these two. They have no obvious reason for doing this based on their history, so I am intrigued as to what changed them.

I don't hate you for waving your American flag, I respect that. I'm just a curious person.

 

I want to know why they did it as well, and he still deserves a trial.
