1. I'm 43 years old, and I've never been drunk. I've had one drink too fast, which made me kind of tipsy for a short period of time, but that's it.

2. When I want to pull out a "I'm so old that..." story, I use this one. I'm so old that my pediatrician made house calls. I remember getting a doctor's exam lying in my own bed.

3. I took part in the inaugural MathCounts competition. I placed fourth in my state, and Colorado placed third in the national competition.

4. At one point, I decided I was going to obtain every US #1 single. I had started collecting music before then, but I decided on this specific goal. I then went out and purchased "Another Day in Paradise" by Phil Collins on cassingle, as it was number one that week. (December 1989.) From then on, I would go out and purchase every new number one as it reached the top spot. I also tried to buy (or tape off of friends) all the songs that had reached number one before that date. I finally obtained "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)" by George Harrison on 7" single four years later, which got me every single number one song from 1955 until the present day, in some form or another. Nowadays, of course, I could download the thing as a torrent in about an hour.

The final #1 single I purchased was "Hey Ya!" by Outkast. Oddly, I don't remember specifically saying "OK, I won't do this anymore." I just sort of...stopped. I've since found other musical categories to collect.

5. I have my home and work computer set up with a Dvorak keyboard.



In addition to helping keep my carpal tunnel at bay, it also prevents my co-workers from using my computer, because "the keyboard is all messed up".

6. I've met a lot of famous people, and I have almost no stories to share about them. It's not that they're boring - it's that they're just people, and nothing especially stands out unless they're really nice or really asshole-y. I'm often asked "You met (famous person)?! Oh my God, you're so lucky! How were they?" And it's like being asked "You met the guy who lives down the street?! You're so lucky! How were they?"

7. I was a bit peeved that I couldn't find a T-shirt with my favorite cartoon character on it when I was 21. So I decided to make one myself. I still make my own cartoon T-shirts from time to time. I used to use fabric paint, but now I'm lazy and just use a Sharpie.

8. I've gone through two bouts of depression - one in 1995, one in 2008. Both were considered "mild", but they sure as hell didn't seem mild to me.

9. I'm afraid of large(r) insects. Grasshoppers especially scare the hell out of me. And I have a really hard time sleeping if there's a moth fluttering around the room.

11. I'm a huge music fiend, I live in Colorado, and I go to a ton of concerts every year. But I've only been to Red Rocks three times.

12. I exercise using WiiFit about four or five times a week. In a couple weeks, the WiiFit will tell me that it's my 2000th day using it.

13. I went eleven months without watching TV...when I was nine years old. I didn't like it much at the time, but I'm thinking a lot of positive stuff came from it.

14. In 2011, I took part in a charity run for LGBTQ youth. It's only a few blocks long, but it has to be run in heels. I saw that most of the participants completed the ensemble by dressing in drag or some other joke-y fun ensemble, but I decided to go the other route. For the first year, I dressed up in full indoor lacrosse uniform and heels. I got a personalized jersey and shorts, and the team loaned me a helmet, pads and a stick.

This went over so well that in 2012, I decided to continue the trend. That year, I did the run in full Denver Bronco (American) football uniform and heels. (My partner bedazzled the football.) I again got the personalized jersey, and the mascot managed to hook me up with the helmet, socks and so forth. I raised even more money this time, so for this year, I kept the tradition going. I wore a full Colorado Rapids soccer/football uniform. And this year, the team donated the entire uniform to me free of charge for the charity run - I didn't have to buy a thing. And I raised even more money than I had the previous two years.

Next year - full Colorado Avalanche hockey uniform and heels.

15. I've been taken to the emergency room three times in my life. All three times for dehydration.

16. I have five action figures on top of my monitor at work. Which tells you how immature I am, and how old my monitor is.

17. I'm going on a Disney Cruise in a couple months. This will be my eighth.

18. It is nearly impossible for me to "sleep in". Even if I've gotten only a couple hours of sleep, even if I don't go to bed until 5am, I'll probably be up by 8.

19. In high school, I deliberately didn't take debate class, because I hated the idea of public speaking. Four years ago, I addressed a crowd of 10,000.
