Wednesday is my last day of work and I'm so sad all of a sudden. My clients keep telling me how much they'll miss me and I realise now how much I'll miss them too My boss offered me to stay and work every second weekend to make money during uni and I stupidly declined but she randomly called today and I asked her if I could talk to her about it again. So on Monday I have to decide whether I want to stay or go. I'm freaking out about this!
There's a loud-ass cricket right outside my window. That should be fun while I'm trying to get to sleep
Hopefully it quieted down. When it rains really hard here, the frogs appear out of nowhere and it sounds like thousands of them croaking all night long
You guyssss. I love that sound. Better than dogs barking, cats banging or people being dumb, all the things I typically hear (and my end of town is fairly normal) lol
The two stages of shopping at clothing stores: 1. 'This is so annoying - I've tried on 30 things, I'm tired and hate this, why is it so hard to find good clothes, I just want to go home already' 2. *at home*.... 'If I match this with this, and then add that....and....and....crap now I want to go back and buy more stuff' *goes back to the store*
It's so creepy when you're browsing items online, and then an ad for what you were looking at appears on Facebook later that day.
That's because apparently your internet keeps track of what you like, so it can accurately spam you >.> The evilness of ad makers
Is binding ever really completely safe? And I really wish it wasn't so hot here in the summer, there's nothing to wear that doesn't show off my chest..AND is cool..I hate summer..when does Winter get here?..God bless you, Winter....
It's surprising how sophisticated this gets. I did a marketing internship and learned about that type of stuff. The ad programs have some pretty advanced algorithms that can predict what you want before you want it, and what would be the easiest to convince you to buy in that particular moment. If you're searching for a brand of shirt for example, the algorithm would determine which type of pants most people agree looks good with that shirt, and it would then show you the ad for the pants to make you go 'oh that would look good with the shirt I just bought' and go buy it. Then while you're on the pants website it would show you belts, then on the belt website it shows you shoes etc. constantly predicting what else would be easy to sell you in that exact minute.
So I’ve been thinking about life as a whole. Even if we are absolutely special and unique in the universe, who cares? The empty space certainly doesn’t. We are so small and insignificant when you think on it. Especially if we are, in fact, alone in the universe. There is nothing that could possibly make us any different from any other planet. Maybe we have a oxygen atmosphere, yeah. But that could be just as worthless as an aluminum atmosphere elsewhere. Kind of like, so what? And if we disappeared, would anything really change? If I disappeared, say today, I would be mourned for, yes. But say 40, 50, or even 100 years from now, nobody will remember me, and there will be no trace of me anywhere really. Nobody would care about some oldish woman. Why would they? There are billions of different people who could fill my shoes much better than I myself could ever have. Either way it’s 1 in the morning, so sorry for rambling. Have a good night, afternoon, or morning everyone
As a realist, I definitely understand this view. It's a sad reality. Over the years, I learned that the more you know about how the world works, the sadder you get. I can add onto that by saying that if you know how the world works, you are good at analyzing the way things operate. That could be a useful skill in the future. Sure, our impact may be miniscule, but go out there and live a full life regardless. Hope you sleep well, WillowVal.
I have always been fascinated how ad tracking, cookies, and location-targetted ads work. Marketing-wise, it's genius. But through the lense of privacy... Controversy brews hot. I just use a VPN and forget about it.
Thanks Roscoe, definitely got an alright rest. To you as well, I fully and wholeheartedly hope that you also live your own life to the fullest. Hope you’re having an okay day!
