I'm curious about something: Do any of you suffer from Social Anxiety? (officially diagnosed/self-diagnosed). I self-diagnosed with Social Anxiety and am planning on getting officially tested for it just for a more definite diagnosis, no matter what the results (Whether or not I have it). Anyway, I took an online test and scored 91 (50 fear; 41 avoidance).

    The scoring scale:

    55-65 Moderate social phobia
    65-80 Marked social phobia
    80-95 Severe social phobia
Greater than 95 - Very severe social phobia

I don't know how accurate this online test is, but it got me thinking for sure. I fit a lot of the criteria for someone with SA...

    Liebowitz Social Anxiety Test

Would be interesting to see what others have scored on this test, and whether you think it's accurate or not

I'm not sure what the "diagnosis" is when you score lower than 55

    98. 51 fear and 47 avoidance. I don't know if this test is accurate because I can't really explain my social anxiety in terms of numbers. I feel it but can't measure it.

But I was expecting a rather high score so 98 seems about right.

    I got: 51(fear) + 50(avoidance) = 101

    I expected that.

Not really convinced by the validity of an online test, but quizzes are fun, so...
Good to know. I'm just shy, then. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

There are specific situations that make me anxious, but I can usually manage. I might have mild social anxiety or be really shy.

I'm always being told that I'm antisocial. Last time someone wanted to see me, I told her (over the phone) that she can look at a picture of me. I was just buying time to think of a polite way to say I'm busy at the moment.

    Interesting...

I don't really fear any of those situations listed, and only one of them I tend to avoid (I'll leave you all to guess as to which one that is). At worst, they're annoying or frustrating, if they don't go as planned or conveniently. The way I feel though, it's more of an encouragement, a rush of sorts, but a positive one that allows me to do what needs to be done. This is why I'm a social chameleon, because it's easy to be whoever/whatever is required in most social situations.

I have years of practice and the gallons of tears to prove it.

It says I don't have social anxiety. I feel anxious about a lot of things, but I never avoid them.

You do not suffer from social anxiety.

I have always been a social butterfly. Growing up it has never been a problem for me to make friends, in a way I was always part of the popular crowd because of my people skills. I have always been part of the student body officers growing up consistently from grade school to Medical School. I have always had to present cases and discuss them in front of a crowd during my BSN undergraduate and most especially during Medical School where my thesis placed and thus I had to present them in front of the batch. I think it also goes with the profession that I have to have people skills. Clubbing also helps. In the club scene you do not know 80% of the people you talk to, but you make due and make friends at a weekly basis.

K  I don't believe I really have social anxiety; I'm just an anxious person who doesn't like being in uncomfortable situations. Some of the situations made me laugh with how apparant they are in my life, though.

    45. But I still consider myself a social anxious person. I don't make friends easily and I'd rather stay home than meeting new people or going to public places. But if I'm with someone I know I'm quite confident and not so fearful of crowds.

This is pretty weird. As an introvert I expect to have at least score of 20-30. Or does introvert personality dont correlate with social anxiety at all ==`
