HAHA, ok. My mind is just way down in the gutter these days. LOL. That's lovely. A piano is a big commitment. Every time we moved, my ex said he wished I was a flautist or something. Moving the piano is always a huge drama -- complete with me hiding in the bathroom crying while the movers do their thing. I always fret and worry. Because it's a Steinway from 1925 and is totally my baby.
Ok so this has me thinking....someone at the party (i.e. This thread) said they can't remember childhood tv or move star crushes. Oh man, I have plenty and I wonder if y'all share: Jo - facts of life (she held a special place in my heart). Blaire was ok too. Brooke Shields (hellooooo blue lagoon) Laura dern Kristy mcnickols malorie - what the hell was that show Meg Ryan Kelly McGillis (top gun - this poster made me realize I was a lot different from other girls) Jamie gertz Jennifer beals!!!! Neve Campbell Sarah Michelle geller Gillian anderson All the women on twin peaks Past that you get into adult age crushes. Oh my god. There are more but you get the picture. I was in a lot of denial ladies.
Well if it IS the entry fee--YAY! I'm in! Nothing worse than NOT being invited to the popular girls sleepover .
I understand. My aunt is a pianist, music teacher, conductor, etc. she has a beautiful baby grand in her sitting room and she says she had to leave the house when the piano movers brought it into the new house.
OMG, you are cracking me up. I'm laughing... I had a day several months ago when I realized all the TV crushes I'd had when I was a kid. It hadn't ever occurred to me to wonder WHY I liked these particular characters sooooo much. OMG. It all came flooding into my consciousness and I couldn't even deal. In my case, I watched a lot of 60's and 70's shows in syndication, so all my crushes are from shows that don't quite match my age, but here we go::: Samantha from Bewitched Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie Ginger from Gilligan's Island (HAHA!) Lynda Carter from Wonder Woman Jill from Charlie's Angels Julie from the Love Boat Chrissy from Three's Company OMG, laughing so hard. I was so so so gay. I went all glassy eyed for these ladies. And yet? I just pretended to like boys. Could NOT deal.
I was crazy for 90210. Melrose Place. And I watched Dallas, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley. And Charmed. And the list goes on....
I know, it was one of my favorite show! I totally blanked on the name for a minute. I really loved Mallory though.
Damn, do you think it's Malorie or Mallory? I should know how to spell the name of a former girlfriend.,.
Wow have you brought them out of the woodwork. Kristy McNichol--YES, way back to her days on 'Family' and then WOW in 'Little Darlings.' (Tatum O'neal in that not bad either!) Mallory (Justine Bateman) -'Family Ties'-yes! (And her TV mom Meredith Baxter Birney just came out as gay a few years ago, wrote a book) Jamie Gertz -she played the snobby chick in a bunch of teen movies right? Check mark! Kelly McGillis-FASCINATING to me. In 'Witness' too, and that scene in the barn! She came out too right? Is that her? Neve Campbell-Check mark here too--something about that perpetually perplexed look she has is sooo intriguing! Okay so we are building our slumber party movie list we can call them the 'Before We Knew We Were Gay' Movies. Little Darlings Blue Lagoon Top Gun Witness Flash Dance
Ok I posted a few. Hopefully they'll be approved soon Hmm movie/tv crushes from childhood that I now realize were crushes: -Definitely Jennifer Anniston -Julianna Marguiles (the ER years. What ten year old watches ER!? Me apparently) -Elizabeth Hurley Crushes on actresses that I classified as gorgeous while identifying as straight as an arrow: -Kiera Knightly -Kate Beckendale (in underworld - holy shit, amirite?) -Allison Williams (those biceps when she played Peter Pan were an experience) -Charlize Theron -Julia Louis Dreyfus -Kate from Lost -Maggie from the Walking Dead - I could probably go on and need to stop haha
OMG, that's funny. I wanted to be just friends with the ladies in that list (I'm not attracted to the femme types but I'm very femme myself). For me, it was a big cliche....none other than k.d. lang. I remember the first time I laid eyes on her in a Roy Orbison video. I totally thought she was a dude with an Elvis Presley haircut...until her voice came out, beautiful and silky. I literally remember standing in front of the TV with my mouth open. I was probably about 12 or 13. I was totally smitten, and didn't know why or what that feeling was...yeah talk about denial!! I'm still smitten with Ms. Lang all these years later. I think she's still sexy at her age.
