What connotations does queer have?

    I'm quite old fashioned, to me it means either gay - or just odd.

    I usually just think using the literal definition of "strange, or odd" so I don't really aknowledge it's use to refer to lgbtq people. It's use as such seems to me as just way to different, and I don't believe we as are really different enough from straight people to deserve such a title. Of course, this entire speech is against the actual point of this question...


    So I'm going to shut up now.

    To me it sorta means strange/odd, like the above poster said, but I really don't mind it as an lgbt+ label, it just doesn't bother me.

    I feel like it's a nice all-inclusive word for anyone who is LGBT. I like that a lot of the community has reclaimed it, but I understand that some are still hesitant towards it.

    A few people
    To my knowledge traditionally, it could mean one of two things. It was either a derogatory term for gays or it could be used as another term for 'weird'. I think now, it's known mostly to mean gay and it is still used with a negative connotation, except when used by gays themselves.
