If she didn't, then that's a bit of a relief, but I swear the lyrics are something a twelve year old would write.
I saw a video of her singing, she actually wasn't auto tuned at all, she just sounds that annoying naturally! Amazing!
She didn't write it. Her parents payed $4,000 to Ark Music Factory to write the song and film the video. Friday has 95 million views as of today. Apparently she's working on a new single called "LOL." People are offering to write songs for her and I believe she has signed on to a label.
Apparently this is viral marketing for a movie. I don't have a source for that but it wouldn't be surprising. Edit: I have a link, but it appears to be a fake version of a news site that's running it. Story is here, but it's not actually the site it looks like.
Aya, that sounds really fake and that they are just making a joke about the song/record company that made it.
Someone has confirmed here that the story claiming that she's a fake is, itself, actually a fake. So, unfortunately, she is real, the song really is that terrible, and it's not viral marketing for a forthcoming movie. However, apparently she can actually sing without the autotune, here's an acoustic version of the song So... just maybe she'll get some useful exposure out of this.
After reading the whole story, and seeing her (and her mom) interviewed on some morning show, I have to say that she sounds remarkably grounded and sensible and reasonable for a 13 year old girl. Seems like her parents have done a good job with her. She says "I feel like I'm not the worst singer, and I am definitely not the best" and she also seems to be putting a remarkably positive spin on all the hate. And she didn't write the song, and at the time, both she and her mother thought it made no sense, but she essentially did what she was told by the people making the video. I do think whomever actually wrote the song for her should be shot. It is about the stupidest song, with the most ridiculous lyrics, that I've ever heard. But she doesn't at all seem like the princess/entitled type, and I think she's gotten a bad rap out of all this.
