Hello people of empty closets, I need some help bad right now and google isn't cutting it. I'm an introvert so I can't exactly do this the normal way. long story short: I went to a support group and met a girl way out of my league. we became friends. she recently confessed feelings and now somehow we have a date? I have NEVER been on a real date and have no idea how to act or what to do because this girl is so out of my cards I'd need a telescope to see her. she claims she's gonna pick me up and take me out for "coffee shop and chill"? any and all advice is welcome. thank you
I agree with the poster above, just be yourself! You're already friends so you know each other, just go hang out and have fun. Wish you luck!
Just think of the date as hanging out. Keep it casual, fun, light, and be yourself. Unless you're the brooding intectual type, then keep it heavy and philosopical There are no rules for dates, just do it your way. If she has feelings for you, she enjoys your company so just being there is enough to make it a good time. You don't have to get affectionate if you don't want to. Just do things in your own time. The more time together the easier and more natural things will become.
This reminds me of a phrase I learned from another gay guy (paraphrasing): I want someone who thinks I'm way out of their league and I think they're way out of mine. Basically, as much as you might think she's out of your league, remember the reality that she is the one who offered to take you out. I agree that you shouldn't idolize her: everyone has positive and negative attributes. Also, you could tell her you're new to all of this, and once you get to know her and mutual interests, you could take the initiative and arrange the second date.
update: She ended up not taking me out. in fact- she likes someone else more... so as usual I'm rejected for someone better
