GooD Ideas for coming out.

in my opinion it would b a bad idea cause the reaction could b worse then what u would get from just telling them, im going to try making out with a guy around the house and letting them see me and maybe then they will believe im gay

 

Remember: Lots of people (especially older people) are quite against porn. It could really add to the complications. They could view the porn as being "perverted" - and as such, associate your homosexuality with being perverted.

Couldn't you just tell them?

If you must use the approach of letting them find something, a print-out of a good coming out support website page or a book on coming out would be better. Or a link to a suitable website somewhere obvious on the PC? It would show that you are trying to understand the situation (especially if it was about coming out to parents) which would have a more positive impression and make you look more sensible in their eyes than letting them find some porn.

Telling them in person is better, or by giving them a letter to read while you wait. I don't like the idea of clues as it leaves them in doubt (they may assume you are looking up information for a friend or they may even miss the clue completely).

However any almost method of coming out is better than not coming out.

 

What about letting your parents see this site on your computer?
Or say "He is hot" whenever a guy who you think hot on TV or at mall or whatever when your parents around you:rolleyes:

How about asking them this "I think my boyfriend is gay what should I do?"

I wouldnt leave clues for them they may decide to ignore it in an attempt to deny reality. and that would just put alot of strain on your relationship with your parents. i think you definitly need to be there when they find out. wether you tell them yourself or in a note or whatever.

but if you are going to leave a clue, i agree with everyone else. dont use a porn site it gives a bad impression. mabey you could find a book i once saw (when i was still in the closet and with my parents so i couldent look at it in depth) it was a book about homosexual feelings and how to deal with them. now i dont know what this book actually says on the inside. for all i know it could say your possesed by gay deamons. but the point is that if you need to leave a clue for them becouse you cant tell them face to face. (wich i compleatly understand, just trust me on that). make it a clue that portraies you as wanting to understand and be accepted. witch is clearly what you want. you may even want to leave a trail to this site.....

but it think that if it is at all possible, be in the room when they find out. i think the letter is a good idea as long as your there. good luck

 

I told my parents in a letter when i was out of town for the weekend. My mom was kinda confused cause she didnt want me to have a harder life than i already had (I am slightly anti-social just like my mom.) My dad was kinda angry because "someone who lives halfway around the world should get a letter but the peple that sleep across the hall should get told face to face." His exact words. But both my parents are okay with it.

If you want them to find out by finding something, perhaps you could get a book from the library about gay issues or something. Or even a gay fiction novel. If you leave something like that lying around, they might get the idea.

 

I think that would be a bad idea I think that it would cause a bad reaction and I think that it would just be better for you to tell them in some way other than letting them find porn

 

Instead of using porn or making out with a guy why not get and leave some literature say from P-FLAG or some other support group to help your family come to terms with having a gay family member. They may not have such a problem with it if they read up on it.

 

yeah i dont think that would probably create more conflict than just coming out and saying it. when I came out to my parents it was late at night and they had just sat down to have a glass of wine. i came downstairs and just told them. it was really hard to do but being direct is sometimes the best way to do things
