Anyone familiar with that? I've been depressed for a long time (depressed as in depressed, not just unhappy with something) and this miserable look upon my face is just stuck on me. It's unattractive and I know it is... even now that I found the motivation to change things around me, I still feel like my eyes look sad, lifeless, naive, disappointed, and most of all WASHED UP. I hope I don't sound crazy. I just can't stand walking around with this expression on my face. Even when I work out and my body looks decent right after the workout, the eyes aren't attractive. They say being sexy is all about character and well... This thread might be a little pointless, but still curious if anyone knows what I'm talking about. I remember a period when I could fake looking more "on" but not so much anymore.
I have purely the dead eye syndrome. I can fix my face to most expressions, but my eyes remain the same. I'm not sure what I can tell you to make it better because I haven't figured out the solution myself. I'm repeating Abercrombieboy, did someone break your heart too?
yeah someone broke my heart a long time ago...and hes the love of my life...and ever since the shit hit the fan between me and him it just it hasnt been the same...it feels like i can only live moment to moment because the thought of having to live a life without him is driving me insane i swear. And the worst part is that I brought it all on myself i just want to turn back the clock and have a second chance on what was probably the worst mistake of my life...i still cry about losing him )':
Hang in there. You're sixteen. Take a deep breath. Put your life into perspective. You have almost your whole life ahead of you. This guy might be a part of it in the future, and he might not. It's your decision to make. It's you're life. Don't allow anyone else but yourself to dictate how you feel. And watch the first 5 or 6 minutes of this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF_10F7eYRE
I have that too. People always ask me why I look so lost/sad. I kicked my depression years ago too. But I'm getting better. It just seems to take time, So hang in there *hugs*
...Dead eye syndrome? I've never even heard of it. It mostly sounds like I'm-Sad-So-I-Look-Sad syndrome. But I know a surefire way to make your eyes seem brighter and more alive. Use a white pencil eyeliner on your water-line. It's not super noticeable (so don't worry if you are dude and abide by society's gender roles), but it really makes your eyes seem wider. Makeup is your friend!
Hi. I have been depressed for a while and my eyes got deader and deader. I used to have really pretty bright eyes. I'm trying to kick my depression but sometimes it makes it harder because I know I have this dead look in my eyes and my face and eyes feel heavy. I know what you are talking about. It really helps to know I'm not alone. I hope this goes away.
i have that too. i find that when i laugh my eyes look a little brighter, so try to laugh more often. be around your friends a lot. watch funny movies, standup, and things like that. laughing is actually a really good remedy for things like this
Hey Bro. I got the dead eyes syndrome too. The thing is, most of it is just your perspective upon it really. To others, your eyes look normal enough. At least that's what I think. What I tend to do is just look at things from an entirely alien perspective. That is, view everything as if it were something new. Adapt a sense of wonder to simple, yet beautiful things. It isn't like having your heads in the clouds, no. Rather it is more like appreciating what's on the Earth. You do have to look for these, but you don't have to go out of your way. Look up more, don't just keep to yourself, don't go everywhere with your headphones on. Just flow. . . Do I sound like a hippie? Oh yea, and remember. "Smile!"
Maybe it would help to smile with your eyes? It's pretty easy to tell a fake mouth-smile from a real face-smile. True smiles use all of the muscles in the face, especially those around the eyes, and it's proven that smiling (with all your muscles) can make you feel happier. Even acting happy when you're not can make you feel happier. It's hard as HELL to act happy when you're not, but a little bit at a time might help. Also, hold doors open for people and say nice things to people. If you give out niceness, people will smile, and that smile triggers your smile—and voilà! I know my advice might likely by worthless to you, but it works for me, and heck, why not give it a shot?
