If the item has a word on it, I might use that. Depends how well it works. If/when the first object breaks or gets lost I just add "the 2nd" and so on to the name of the replacement. I find it easier to remember that way.

For example, mechanical pencils got called Techniclick the 1st, Techniclick the 2nd, Techniclick the 3rd, Techniclick the 4th, and so on.

Do you think this is some childish behaviour that I need to snap out of? Nobody has really complained about it. Most folks that know me just write it off as a quirk and/or find it amusing. But I don't think I've personally known anyone else that does this. I feel weird x 100. I've read that some people nickname their cars.

I had a plastic fetus that was given to me at a Pro-Life church event and I named it Garry. Used to put it in my sister's room when she was sleeping.

    God, I miss that thing...

I do, a lot, I name most of my "important" stuff: my car, my computer, my phone, my iPod, my favourite pens and notebooks... Most of them are absolutely stupid and they just "happen", I don't really plan to name my things (?!) but there you go...

I name plants but haven't thought of any good ones for a while. A few years ago we had a small tree in our yard that was all twisted, I named it Crackhead. It has since died. Also my mom's car has always had a name.

I like to name my electronics, but that's usually as far as it goes. My laptop is Leopold, my phone is Pyotr, and my 3DS is Samandriel. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

My dad likes giving names to our cars. He gave one van the name "Elvira" because it always broke down, and our last one was "Minty" because of the color.

Yeah, I feel rather lonely at times and talk to them, even though I'm not a child.
There is Len the figurine (his real name is Len)
    Jerry the pillow
    Mike the comforter
    Rin the bed
    Cupcake the Hippo
    Bestie the phone

    I'm such a child.
But it makes me feel like I have friends on my lonely days...
    Like today...
I'm talking to my brother and sister, Rin and Len right now. They're sweet. We're triplets. I am weird.

I nicknamed my car, Snowflake. It was the first name that popped up. I have a teddybear who I've named Cuddles - because, cuddles

My aunt's car is called Summer. Dad refuses to name ours because he says it's silly.

My tablet is called Judas. I had a Religion lesson right before I came home and got my tablet, so I had that name in my head.

I have a Raspberry Pi which I named Gideon. Not sure why.

Mainly stuffed animals, though the creativity varies. All my stuffed animals and dolls have names. Except one, but that one's kinda hard. I've also named the feet of my winter pajamas.

My mom's car is named Roxy, from the license plate.

My car was nicknamed by some friends Silver Bullet, definitely silver coloured, not as fast as a bullet at all, poor thing being +20. Still feel very attached to it.

It's not annoying. I wouldn't even say it's childish, but if it is, there's still nothing wrong with it.
My ex-roommate did this. So does the girl I like. I find it sometimes funny, sometimes adorable. Never a problem!

Me, personally, I only name stuffed animals and figurines.

I have named my car 'the Purple friend' because well, it's purple. And that's it. Don't have nicknames for other things.

My first car with its shoddy coil packs was called "Sparky" because it had visible electrical arcs across the engine whenever you started it. Reliable as all hell for years, but scary at times XD.
