"Yay, I finally have a friend that's gay!"- One of my best girl friends.

"Ohhh so that guy you were walking with the other day, how big? Say when *puts hands together and pulls them apart slowly*" - Closest guy friend, he's awesome lol.

"Oh....... Oh ok, well we all still love you regardless of the fact you think you're gay" - Not that close with this friend any more :/.

"That's great, now can you show me how to solve this problem?" - Best friend in the world.

 

A few favorite responses:

"Wow, you should have dropped more hints, I had absolutely no idea."
"So, umm, are you the girl?"
"I could not be more happy for you that you've finally come to terms with who you are."
"I'm really happy for you, but aren't you afraid of what this will do to your social life?"

 

Well I have had a few... a couple to note were... 'ok....', 'really?.... why would you be scared to tell me that... who cares?' but the best one came from my mother... understand that I am just starting the separation process from my wife... and she says...'oh? do you have a 'friend?'' I thought WHAT??? shes pretty old school!!! lol

 

This is how my best friend responded when I told her a few years ago.... She's a surgeon who doesn't take crap and hates waffle.

Friend 'Ok what's this news I've been waiting to hear'
Me 'I'm not sure how to start'
Friend 'ok it can only possibly be one of three things.... You're pregnant, you're quitting uni or you're gay.... I'm hoping it's the last because the first 2 are much more serious'
Me ... Speechless
Friend 'oh god you are actually pregnant!'
Me 'no... Wow.... no I'm just gay!'
Friend 'well thank god for that, because that's old news'

Quite possibly the most awkward was introducing my partner to an old uni colleague at a wedding.
Colleague talking to my partner 'oh so how do you know the bride'
Me 'um she's with me....this is my partner'
Woman ...speechless....awkward silence..... 'Oh well that's quite straight forward isn't it'

We still laugh about her responses!

 

of the people i've told it's been just a continuation of the conversation. the only one who questioned was my counselor and my doctor, along the lines of "are you comfortable with saying that?" and things move right along....

 

Me: "I'm bi"
My brother: "Well, then you'll have twice as many choices than me!"

 

When I came out first as a bisexual to two people they were comparing two men in the workplace, then asked me to say which one I would 'do' I was like that was fast. Then I found out I was gay and then they were like. Awww. That means that you won't 'do' me. For me the females always come up to me asking all these questions. Makes me uncomfortable.

 

I just told 2 random girls today and they were like:"I don't believe you, you don't act or talk like a girl and your voice is low"

 

My bestfriend- Oh my god! that's so sweet! Do you have a boyfriend??? Oh my god i feel so happy!! (she felt happy because she understood that i trust her)
*i'm sorry for my english, i'm italian*

 

Me: "Umm... I don't know how to say it but I'm gay."
*Awkward silence*
Friend: "Now we can talk about hot guys together!"

 

"Oh. It's okay, I don't care."
"You are just messing around with me, right?"
"Really? Are you serious?"
"WHAT?! *speechless*"

Well that's basically cover it.

 

"Does your wife know?"
"Are you serious?"

 

Me: "I'm trans. And gay."
Friend: "...I'm bi."

Mutually coming out is the best kind of coming out.

 

"Wow, you threw me a curve ball."

"You definitely don't act like it."

"My sexiness converted you, huh? Man, I am good!"

Those are the funny ones.

 

"You are? That's great you know"
"*under breath* Now is my chance."

 

My responses have been things like "yeah, ummm" and "Wait, you're into girls? So you're a lesbian!". I know, I know, they're not the most exciting responses but hey, I haven't gotten anything negative just yet!
