    A farmer. My dad grew up on a farm in Indiana and I wanted to hear all about it. He had a horse named Star and did cool things like racing the train that picked up the milk cans from all the farmers in town. I loved stories like that and always wanted us to move from Chicago back to a farm. I knew my mother would never go for it. She was a city girl. She was disappointed when I didn't go to college and went in to the metal trades instead. I'm still at it. It provides a good living and I often made better money than some of my college educated friends.

    Archeologist, egyptologist to be more specific when I was 10 years old (thanks to Indiana Jones, Allan Quatermain, Rick O’Connell and Lara Croft), then I take art history courses at high school and so on to university. But I drift to study medieval Iran instead of ancient Egypt for my thesis (and studying illuminated manuscripts in library is far more comfortable than adventurously digging lost settlements with a toothbrush under the sun).

    I think someone that just pet dogs all day.

    I sort of do that now and hate it. I never really had any aspirations and it shows now in my permanent existential crisis as I flop through life aimlessly with no realistic obtainable goals or desires. I think child-me knew this would happen too but damn if she isnt disappointed anyway

    I switched around a lot with this when I was a kid, it basically went like this:

    soldier -> librarian -> zoologist -> astronomer -> artist -> programmer -> video game designer (programmer/artist combo)
