Do u agree with this? Different parts of the brain are activated or turned off to make someone strictly gay or straight. Bisexual people are attracted to both sexes but for me being turned on by a woman definitely feels different from being turned on by men. Would u say straight people have 1 part of the brain deactivated and the other activated? Same with gay people. Just think of some of the straight people who go to prison and might have a love life there too
Bullshit is what I say! Not everyone is bisexual; and although many people are fluid, some people are rigid and stay that way their whole life. I have 0% attraction to men and I believe it will stay that way. Just like everyone has the capability to be turned on by scat play and that we're conditioned to be disgusted by it...some people may change their minds and open up if they allow themselves to break through their disgust, and for others It'll feel wrong no matter what. Never liked the "everyone is a little bit bisexual" quote, as I personally have not experienced it. I tried merely fantasizing about men and it felt as wrong as sex with my parents would. I personally think this quote devalues bisexual identity and it also increases biphobia in the monosexual community as they feel personally invalidated by it. Not really great for either side.
I love being bi but my friends definitely arent at all... one of my friends told me that she likes men but that she can appreciate the beauty of a woman the same way she appreciates fine art, but never in a sexual or romantic way. And there are always those friends who are disgusted by the thought of being with the same or opposite sex, depending on their orientation lol. When people say, Everyone is a little bisexual, I feel degraded like my feelings aren't real... they're just something people toy around with for fun but don't take seriously... that's just my impression, though... (also, I think we bis wish everyone was bi so we could speak more freely about things but, that's just not in the cards.)
I think it's best to let people define their sexuality rather than making generalizations like this. Some use bisexuality as a stepping stone to being gay/lesbian, while others are truly bisexual. It really depends on how the person identifies, and regardless of what they feel, their sexuality should be respected.
Nope. All saying "everyone is bisexual" does is invalidate the sexualities of monosexuals. We shouldn't be trying to tell people they aren't what they are.
Absolutely not. This has been brought up countless times before, and my answer remains the same. Saying monosexuals don't exist is like saying bisexuals don't exist. It's ignorant and untrue.
No. There really are lots of straight women, whom I don't understand, out there. Same goes with other types of monosexuals, we/they exist.
Nurp. Complete bollocks. Sorry. Although some people are bisexual, many people here are attracted exclusively to people of the same gender, with no attraction to the opposite gender at all.
Excuse me while I just walk away from the bullshit that is the question of this thread. Just ignore the countless gays and lesbians who have endured endless misery by trying to force their attraction to be directed at the opposite sex. But before I go - This mindset needs to :***: That is all.
Why should everyone have to be one thing? Different is awesome. I don't believe everyone is bisexual, because a ton of people around me have told me they're not. That's enough for me.
Just to add: I do get the reason why OP posted the question: she is kind of wondering how sexual orientation comes about. To wonder is ok. But I think this kind of questions is incredibly bigoted, and we should stop asking it. Its often comes up in as a mis-expressed bi pride: "being bi is so awesome, I don't get everybody is not bi, clearly bi is the best". You are entitled to feel this way, but others will not, and willy certainly feel offended by it. I feel being gay is awesome, but I don't think I would want to go around telling bisexual people that clearly they are just gay as a default. "everyone is bi" gets repeated so, so many times and really is often one of the reasons why people experience biphobia.
