No because that is how you get electro-gonorrhea, the noisy killer.

I would totally date a robot. There isn't a single downside I can imagine that isn't related to hacking/malfunctions or a different meaning to "high maintenance."

The movie Her explored human/AI relations. It did an alright job, but failed to see the full possibility of a computer even infinitesimally smarter than a human. The way they chose to end it was really limited in vision and I think it would work out more favorably for the human.

    NOT in 2090
    Maybe in 2190

I don't think they would be sufficiently advanced in 2090; I predict they will be firmly in uncanny valley territory to me at that point. 50-100 more years after that I think they'll be good enough to date.

I'd have no problem with it, in theory.

But I'd also be skeptical of their programming, and this would probably not be a healthy thing to think, for a relationship.

Probably all of them would be designed to have objectively aesthetically pleasing faces. But maybe the view of what beauty is would have changed by then as it has in the last 100 years.

Ye of little faith! 90 years ago was 1924. What would they have made of someone then who said that technology could do what it does now? Scores of things we take for granted would have sounded like absolute lunacy to scientists and engineers of the day.*

*Aesthetically though, you might be right about the uncanny valley. I can't see androids passing a Turing test in person just yet even if we did have the computing power and necessary materials techs.

But if we assume an exponential or even linear increase in capability from the '20s, we are going to have some crazy stuff in 2090.

But heck, homosexuality is apparently a sin. So yeah, I'd totally date one

No, I doubt this ever becomes a thing. Why? Two words "Uncanny Valley".

That is sooo wrong. If AI actually reached the point where it was intelligent enough to interact with humans to the point of dating, switching it off randomly would be a violation of it's basic rights. Imagine if your bf/gf got annoyed with your and switched you off for a week or two (no harm done just that your consciousness didn't exist during that time).

So long as I'm not aging and the robot is pretty much indistinguishable from a human... maybe.

What was the anime you watched?

I don't think we could have the robots do our cooking and cleaning, that would be slavery.

Is being programmed to consent the same thing as giving consent? Like, in some weird circumstance, for instance, where a doctor would ask for a child's consent on a medical procedure and an adult told the child beforehand what his answer should be, so of course that's what he tells the doctor.

Also who gets the jobs? Robots can't go to work representing the humans because of rights violations, but robots would need next to nothing in pay unlike humans. I just pictured a bunch of robots feeding soup to a line of humans a couple miles long.

I do not know if I would date a robot or not since I didn't grow up in the next century and have not spent a lot of time around talking robots who aren't named Siri, lol.

    EDI....

That thing creeped me out enough so no date with robots. Also there is that creepy kid from Extant... How can people let that thing walk into their house?

Hmm but something good can come out of that scenario. People could be convinced to hunt robots "for sport" instead of animals. As AI can learn how to defend themselves in time they startto fight back and hunt the hunters... This is what I call a Win/Win situation.

How I wish to see a robot's thropy picture with gunned down human under his feet smiling.

No, dating a robot is a bit too creepy for me. Even the best AI is not the same as a human.
