Why do gay guys use terms like Otter, Bear, Wolf, etc? What do you think of terms such as those? I find it to be weird.
I've only heard of "bears" - and it kind of makes sense because the type of guy that labels himself as a "bear" is usually a bit chunky, hairy and I think that's a kind of cute way of describing it. Intrigued to know what the others reflect though!
I'm pretty sure it's derived from "Twinkie", the snack food that bears resemblance to the person's physical appearance. I don't refer myself as any thing, but I'm sure that people do it just for fun and to be creative, y'know?
I've heard that explanation, combined with the filling, and I've also heard that it's an acronym - Teenage White Into No Kink. Generally the later implies a stereotype similar to the Dumb Blonde stereotype, except you no longer qualify to use that if you appear old enough to drink.
I strongly dislike this one because I think somebody can defy any or all of those criteria and still be a twink. It is relevant to me because twinks are my ideal type. I've never heard any animal words other than bear though.
Otter and wolf are variations on Bear... Otter = short Bear Wolf = slim Bear Concerning twinks, I say... once twink always a twink... its just that by age 50 those twinks turn into grey haired wolves or otters! :eusa_doh: Oh, and if someone calls them self a Stallion, that has nothing to do with Bears and I recommend you exchange #s with that one!
I've heard a definition of "twink" as "young, dumb, and full of c**". That's courtesy of Urban Dictionary.
