I don't really have a hero, but I really admire Anderson Cooper.

Well, I really don't see it that way myself. You can take any transphobic insult and say that they probably just meant transvestites, when most people think they're the same thing anyway. Whilst I'm not gonna outright hate on him, there were no apologies from him or the show itself. If we had one, I'd be fine. It's just a little galling that he can be called an LGBT hero and make documentaries on equality when he's doing the same thing to transpeople that was happening to gay people in the 80s.

I have many LGBT Hero's, *people I look up to* Paul O'Grady aka Lily Savage was someone I really admired as a kid, Mr Freddie Mercury, :king: (inspired me to get up on stage and sing in a performance even though I was bricking it)
Derren Brown (Awesome hypnotist/mind reader but amazing human being) :icon_bigg
    :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:ride:

but all of you have supported and given me advice too
you are my hero's! And I can't thank you enough, I'd be all alone without you. (Thanks EC :icon_wink)

I really admire Ellen DeGeneres. She's funny and she's helped so many people.

Oscar Wilde, Stephen Fry, Neil Patrick Harris, George Takei, Harvey Milk. Plenty of great LGBT people out there, whether I'd call them heroes though.. I'm not one for hero worship.

It's so inspiring how hard he worked to follow his dream, and what an impact that dream is making.

As much as I love Ellen, George Takei is my LGBT hero. I think that started when I saw this video.

Alan Turing. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have had computers and all the technology in the modern era. It's a shame many of us take it for granted considering how terrible his last years alive were.

He's currently on the top of my list, too!

I've really enjoyed reading the comments on this thread. You have all named some really inspiring people. Some of you may want to look a little further back in time, as well. Here's a list you may want to Google in your spare time:

    John Maynard Keynes - Economist

Sir Francis Bacon - Lord Chancellor of England

    King James I of England

Rainer Werner Fassbinder - German filmmaker

George Washington Carver - Research Scientist and Inventor

    W.H. Auden - Poet

Yukio Mishima - Poet and Author of Confessions of a Mask and Forbidden Colors

Edward Carpenter - Writer and gay rights advocate in the 1800s and early 1900s

Christine Jorgensen - First person to become widely known in the United States for having sex reassignment surgery. She spent her later years in advocacy and lecturing.

Well, not that he hasn't done much for the community, well, not that I know of but I have a huge HUGE crush on Billie Joe Armstrong, he's bi already, and he was still able to get married to a girl. But still, as far as I know, he hasn't done much, at least, that's just what I know, I'm not into researching.

Probably David Sedaris. He isn't an activist though, really. Just a funny, smart, and talented gay author. My absolute favorite.
