I have it in my right ear. It's not that bad, but I developed it spontaneously when I was sixteen though, I was dealing with a ton of anxiety at the time which I think triggered it. My Eustachian tube started acting up when it started and still doesn't work 100% right. It's annoying occasionally but just a fact of life.

Interestingly, my left ear doesn't have anything off about it. It's completely normal. And my hearing is fine, except that it's a little worse now in my right ear because of the added noise. But it's not a loud sound or anything and I can not hear it plenty of times. In fact I sometimes will not hear it at all for brief periods.

I'm not sure. I sometimes get a buzzing sound in my ear for no reason but it only happens like once a month for less than a minute. Not sure if that counts as tinnitus or not.

I have it a little bit, been around lots of loud things my whole life and lots of loud music. It’s not bad though I don’t usually notice it unless I’m in a quiet room.

Same here. It's a faint hissing sound.

Tinnitus is more of a continuous buzzing sound in your ear, sometimes you're stuck with it constantly depending on the condition that the ear is in.
If your ear has a ringing or buzzing sound that occurs every once in a while, it could also mean that the frequency that picks up a certain sound level your ear "dies", meaning, that you may not be able to hear that particular sound again. It's hardly noticeable at first, but with age, you'll probably notice the difference. The older we grow, the more our hearing gets downgrades. This can get worst if you're exposed to a really loud sound, like a rock concert, techno club, bars that play obnoxiously loud music that you hear on the radio all the time, blasting your headphones for a really long time. Its hard to explain it but it's the best way that i can put it.
it's important to protect your ears

I've got it in both ears. Comes from the loud music I blared through my headphones for two years to drown out the shouting of my high school bullies. I really only notice it when I'm in bed or in a quiet place.

This seems to be true for a lot of people i.e. noise exposure and in both ears. Mine is only in one and I am convinced was brought on by stress and anxiety which was really bad at that period of my life. I don't listen to loud music or anything like that so I didn't damage it that way.

Mines more of a ringing in the ears rather than a buzz. When I was in middle school I was a bit self destructive and blasted the loudest music I could in my headphones everyday. Dumb!

Don't know if this counts, but I occasionally get this thing where I can hear my heartbeat in my ear.

Yep, I get that too. It is more frustrating the the buzzing/ringing in the ear. Drives me crazy. That and sometime I will hear my breathing in my ear as well. Then I'll start to think about it so it gets worse. uggh.

For me it always seems to happen as I'm laying down to go to sleep. Then it takes longer for me to fall asleep, because my own pulse is keeping me awake. It is very frustrating indeed.

I also sometimes get it if I'm sitting down and my head is resting on my hand.

This does sound bothersome. I think more people than people think have these odd ticks or conditions. Strange.

Strange indeed. Luckily mine doesn't occur very often, but when it does it gets really annoying.
