Who’s Gay? Who’s Bi? Who really knows?

I'm bi and my brother is gay. I don't know of anyone else in the family who's LGBT.

I am bisexual, but leaning towards lesbian as time goes on.
My daughter is a lesbian.

I think I'm the only queer person in my family. I'm not aware of any others at least. I suppose I could have a cousin or two that are Bi or something. But mothers side is still very young, I'm the oldest maternal grandchild of around 12, so there is still plenty of hope that I'm not all alone.

 

Hmm I have two gay cousins on my dad's side. One that's my age and one is a couple decades older than me I think. The one that's my age knows I'm bi and trans- he's supportive thankfully. I got cut off from him three and a half years ago and I'm hoping to reach out to him within the next week here.

 

My older sibling came out to me as gender queer a few years ago, and I've heard rumors about my younger sister (I'm the middle of 3) having relations with other girls (small town, lots of nosy Nellies here). My oldest niece is pansexual. My child is asexual. I'm bisexual. A sibling in law is trans. One of my mom's half sisters was bisexual, she was dating another woman when she passed away. It's not really talked about on my side of the family, other than between myself and my oldest niece. She knows I accept her as she is, and I adore her like my own child. She's really open with me, thank heavens.

I'm not sure of anyone else though. Like someone else said, there's such a huge stigma attached to being LGBTAQI+, and our older generations may not have come out due to their shame of it.

 

Exactly. My aunt (mom's sister in law) was pretty disgusted when my mom's half sister started dating a woman and aunt said that she thought dating someone the same gender as you are is "gross" and she would disown anyone who did it. This aunt happens to be my godmother... So I'm keeping quiet as long as possible. Only a few people outside of this forum know the truth about my sexuality, and I'm going to keep it that way as long as I can.

 

I’m a lesbian and I have a gay uncle. I actually can’t stand him and I never came out to him. Mostly because I came out to my favourite aunt on my dads side and she told me if I told him he’d tell my dad and my dad is homophobic and transphobic and every other phobic involved in hating a group of people for being different. I heard him say that trans people are crazy and mentally ill and every Muslim is a terrorist. My mother thinks one of my cousins on my dads side is a lesbian. Probably because she’s 40 and we’ve never heard she’d had a boyfriend and we usually hear if someone is seeing someone. I have four cousins on my mom’s side the youngest is 19 and they’ve all had straight relationships. But their dad is super religious and homophobic. So if they were gay they’d probably hide it.

My mom’s brothers are both gay. My dad also has uncles who are gay. And I’m gay lol.

 

As far as I'm aware, I'm the only gay in the family.

 

My father was bisexual. Sadly, he was ostracised by the family since he came out and it was one of the reasons my mother divorced him. One of my two aunts is known to be a lesbian, possibly trans - but that is not know for sure.

 

For as I know I'm the only gay... I never thought about it, maybe some others bisexual? Maybe is my culture but we don't speak much about sexuality... so I don't know.
A family friend never told us but had live with this old man, like two pirates in my mind, with a lot of cats... he hinted they were lovers, now unluckly he died (they were like 20 years of differences, he is like 60 yo)

 

btw I don't think 'queer' is being not straight, a person can be into that community still be straight if it is the question.

 

Me and my cousin are both gay, but I can't think of anyone else. Most people in my family are just apparently straight and live normal straight lives. And both me and my cousin have been in not-so-great relationships which I guess is another thing we both have in common.
