I believe in an afterlife and I believe there is god. I wasn't raised in a strict religious household, my parents wanted me to find my own path in life, we never went to church either. I don't particularly label myself as a specific religion but my mother is Episcopalian so I sometimes throw that out there if someone asks.I'm not a big fan of discussing religion in general though. I don't like people pushing their beliefs on me and I wouldn't push mine on them either. It's just rude!
Interesting Question ! I'm a religious studies minor b c it fascinates me . Adherents creep me the f out though especially those who try and excuse ( as in use one) it's complete hypocrisy and mind fuck. I was raised R C b c of my mom . I stopped going to church at 12-13. My dad is Coptic( don't ask, they're worse !) but that was nvr a choice for us to be raised in as far as my mom was concerned . Sorry about the long answer l I can't sleep.
I believe in God but I am against Organized Religion. Organized Religion is very misleading and not the way to go when understanding what christianity is personally to me. When it comes to Baptists, Catholics and other christian religions they all have different perspectives and I don' think God would want it that way. I respect those who attend church but I think it turns more people away from christianity and really has no benefit. There is one truth, one way, and one God when it comes to christianity. When Jesus died on the cross that meant something more than what can be explained. He died for our sins and if you believe in him you will have everlasting life. That doesn't mean you can do whatever you want and still get into heaven you still have to strive to live a holy life filled with respect and love for others. The most important point too is that homosexuality is not condemned in the bible. In the original language nothing is said about homosexuality and there were gay relationships in the bible accepted by God. When you see preachers condemn homosexuality you don't see Jesus or love in their hearts you only see a person filled with hate. That is not what Christianity represents and is not the way you get into heaven. I cannot stress enough the truth that you cannot take seriously christianity by listening to a preacher or a priest and take that as what Christianity is.
I've been raised a Catholic, but recently I think i'm more towards being agnostic or Bhuddist. But I just follow my own morals and i'm very spiritual.
I made up my own called Vellakurism (named after the sacred book I wrote) it's a weird mix of things, a lot of it comes from Hinduism, but I just felt like nothing spoke to me!
