Embarrassingly, I am quite reliant on my parents for food. They've never taught me to cook, nor do I have any interest to learn. But when I go off to college I'm going to make them teach me. (Basics, of course. If I had wanted to be a pro I'd have had to start earlier.)

About 15% of the time I do, the only meal anyone cooks for me is dinner, and thats 2-3 Times a week.

Depends on what you mean by "cooking."

Most of what I prepare requires little effort, but I almost never "eat out." "Drink out," maybe, but "eat out"... probably average once every couple of months.

    The meals I was taught to prepare take several hours to prepare and cook, so I only cook/make meals when I'm on summer vacation, but when I'm in school my mom cooks all the meals for me my brother my sister, I usually get home at like seven and she gets home at like four, thats why she prepares the meals during school. In school I'll just buy my lunch everyday because I don't like to take lunch. But we usually go out to eat every two weeks;
    Friday- dinner
    Sunday- breakfast

  5. Well, let's see. Probably a third of my meals I eat at work since I'm there all the time and it's easier, and I do make food there, but not usually my own..so I think that doesn't count.

About half of my meals are combinations of things like raw veggies, cold cereal, instant noodles, frozen burritos, salad, bagels, fresh fruit, mac 'n' cheese. That's not really cooking...so maybe it only counts a little (I do wash and cut all the produce up and prepare myself a plate of whatever it is I feel like making at 1am when I get home... so maybe?)

My mom cooks something like maybe once a week that I end up being around to eat, so that's not most of what I'm eating.

I can cook, even from scratch! I just don't now that I work second shift all the time. It saps all my energy away and I just wanna eat whatever is easy. That should all change in fall when I move and quit this job.

LOL. I never said I went to nice ones ... those are reserved for the occasional splurge!

Even then... one meal for me might cost... uh... £1.50. $2.57. Whereas the very cheapest bought meal would cost me at least £5. $8.56. I couldn't possibly manage that.

Here, at McDonald's, for example, they have a Dollar Menu. Yesterday, I had a McChicken, a cheeseburger, and a Diet Coke for $3. They cost a dollar each. In your currency, that would be 1.75 pounds.

I will go eat such rubbish only once or twice a week.

If you lower your standards (crappy fast food), it's not terribly difficult to have a "meal" for 1-2$ (~0.60-1.20£) in the US. Not what most outside of struggling college students spend, but still, it's possible.

I don't cook very often, and I tend to eat things that don't take much, or really any preparation (fresh fruit, vegetables, crackers, sandwiches). Sometimes the occasional Chinese take-out or pizza. When I'm on campus for the school year, I tend to cook more or get all of my meals from the cafeteria or restaurants nearby, but when I'm at home my parents usually prepare all meals. So.. 10%, I suppose.

About 50%. The rest my mother makes, or I go out. I make the majority of meals in the house.

Six days a week I cook my own food.
I bought a vegetable steamer for eleven quid about eight years ago and it's the best thing I've ever bought (for the money).

I have started cutting down on eating out especially during lunch. At the moment, I'd say that I cook my own meals 70 to 80% of the time. But I would like to increase it a bit more.

Hmm. Couldn't do that here. Granted, I haven't been to a fast food place in years. But they don't exactly get any cheaper.

I cook almost everything I eat. The only exception is the chinese buffet but I eat there like once every couple of months. Not even monthly.

Tonight I'm making brown rice stuffed peppers (for myself - no one else likes them. More for me!)

I voted 50%-60%. My mom sleeps all day since she works all night, so I eat lots of microwavable meals and sandwiches.
